You are right. The Nelson DeMille book, The Lion's Game, was about a Mid Eastern terrorist who gasses to death a plane load of passengers, puts the plane on auto-pilot, and protects himself with a gas mask or something. He then manages to get off the plane and hunt down all the U.S. jet pilots of the Libyan bombing raid. Anyway, I remember while reading that book being horrified at the magnitude of the terrorist act: a WHOLE plane load of people. No one has ever imagined the scenario of September 11th.
