I do see a parallell between WW2 Germany and what seems to be happening here in America.

If you do a brief analysis of recent history it's a no brainer. We've allowed the 60's generation to run this country almost into the ground morally over the last 30 years. Unfortunately, there is now going to be a backlash to the other extreme. This will include actions that all of us find disturbing. It is coming. Face-scanning technology. Implantable info chips. Smart-card technology coupled with a mandate to carry a National Identity Card now being "considered" by the President. In Britain, this is considered "voluntary", meaning that in the near future, you'll be required to have that card to board planes, buy a home, get a job, etc. I'm no Bible-thumper, but this sounds way too close to that ol' "Mark of the Beast" to me.

More importantly, it misses the mark of delimiting terrorists. All of the killers on Flight 11, for instance, could have had legitimate National IDs along with their Green Cards. Heck, one Muslim guy under arrest was born in Minnesota, a de facto American! Their faces might have triggered absolutely no response from a scan program. And until 9/12, carrying an edged weapon aboard was no offense.

I'm for security. I have a wife and three kids whom I don't want anything bad to happen to. But the threat is not us, the average American. It's comprised nearly exclusively of young adult, male, Middle Eastern Muslims. If you want to track someone, profile someone, or deport someone, work on them.

Anyone with a somewhat open mind can see that this write does indeed make some accurate parallels and definately does know his U.S. History. Desperate times may call for desperate measures, but we still need to carefully guard our liberty. Didn't Daniel Webster say something famous about that? I think he did, or else it wouldn't stick out in my mind for some reason.
