FBI Knew Terrorists Were Using Flight Schools

Federal authorities have been aware for years that suspected terrorists with ties to Osama bin Laden were receiving flight training at schools in the United States and abroad, according to interviews and court testimony.

Three days after the attack on the Pentagon and the World Trade Center, FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III described reports that several of the hijackers had received flight training in the United States as "news, quite obviously," adding, "If we had understood that to be the case, we would have -- perhaps one could have averted this."

Good question, what the heck is going on and why the hel* didn't the Federal authorities do something to get these thugs before they took the controls of at least four airplanes and made them into flying bombs?

It took them less than 24 hours to round up a few dozen, only after the terrorist activities were allowed to happen!

They make me sick that America has become unsafe for working men & woman (not to mention their children) and the flying taxpayers!

And don't mention Congress to me, they are one big joke, standing around holding hands and singing God Bless America.

Someone has to take the blame here! Our security was breached at the highest level and now we are marching our wonderful troops into Afghanistan to endure MORE bloodshed.

When will this stop? It is a sickening journey that the current administration is embarking on.

This should have never been allowed to happen! Someone really screwed up this time, and I will continue to pray daily for all the THOUSANDS that lost their innocent lives and for our brave troops that are now asked to go into a snake's pit.

I agree, but I can't see blaming Mueller or the new administration. I honestly believe that Clinton's administration hid more than we will ever know. If the democratic party hadn't been so busy dialing for dollars, the true circumstances surrounding Flight 800 and other possible terrorist attacks may have been circulating through our intelligence offices. Yet x42 is allergic to the truth (and honor, and dignity, and responsibility, and ...).

If I were the FBI, I would investigate what graduates received B.S. aeronautical sciences degress (equivalent to a commercial pilot's license) in the past decade from Embry-Riddle Aeronuatical University, and to who funded their education.

I'm tired of the goofballs at the FBI - just not getting it right. Look at the sad history of that agency over the last ten years. Its time for a total reorganization - massive Layoffs, firings, forced retirements are the only way to change the cultural and organizational problems. Take it down and then rebuild.

This should not surprise us. Many at this site have discussed why you need a gun versus dialing 911 for clean-up. The same applies to them, they are very good at clean-up but need to be re-directed to prevention.

Local law enforcement may not have the manpower for prevention but the FBI may have the manpower for prevention of terrorism if they were focused as they are today.

Of course Reno/Clinton didn't help either.

They didn't have time to watch the foreigners they were letting in because they were too busy surrounding Koresh's compound and setting fire to it and breaking into little houses in Miami terrorizing a little boy and the family taking care of him. There were also all those background checks they had to do on American citizens who wanted to exercise their second amendment rights.
