I did a search on "Home Defense" on Google. There are a lot of references. It seems that this is an idea that's been kicked around since at least 1997. The agency was even introduced as a bill to Congress at least once.

Seeing Frank Keating's name in their lineup is really scary. If I remember right, Gov Frank was the finder of the rear axle with VIN according to the second version from OKC.

If every time there's a crisis the reaction is to clamp down on rights, I'd guess we're 5 crises away from totalitarianism.
Instead of singing Kumbaya (sp) because Bush gave a great speech, we should remember what our mission is (or should be). We've got to look beyond ourselves to what we're passing on to our decendents.
