The City of New York is accepting contributions to aid the families of Police, Fire, EMS and other City employees involved in rescue efforts.

The New York American Red Cross is in dire need of technology equipment and services. The field workers and sites have little, if any, means of communication and the central office is processing way too much on completely paper systems. Your help in acquiring these resources would be greatly appreciated.

I JUST called New York crisis line 845-708-9252. They were unable to confirm the legitimacy of NYCPPI. They recommend instead that donations be sent - via credit card - through the Red Cross - 800-442-5980.

As mentioned before be very careful about donating. The news media reported a lot of scams going on.

GM has donated ten million dollars to the families of firefighters and EMT families and AT&T is handing out cell phones and Verizon offering free services, multiple large companies like Cisco offering 6 million and the list goes on.

Of course as individuals we want to do something but please stick with angencies and addresses you can trust and are sure your good deeds will get where they are supposed to go.
