You don't even have to carry a knife. Ever go to a restaurant at an airport? Order a steak for dinner and you get a big, serrated steak knife.

"Did they take your camera apart? Did they tear open the lining? Did they check underneath the strap? Did they check your keyring? " They looked through the camera (SLR) and took the lens off. And yes they checked my keyring, and what they say is is that it was a purely random check, that every so many bags coming through get a thorough inspection.
Congratulations on your being able to get a knife on board a plane. You have been very lucky not to get caught. But terrorists cannot rely on luck, they have to plan, because if just one of them had gotten caught, it would increase the chances that more of them would get caught, not to mention that the US would know who to launch the nukes at.
And you are still evading the second point I raised, that somehow these four teams knew they would be on flights that did not have sky marshalls and that they could use their knives without fear of being shot.

Michael, stop beating around the bush. Do you mean nation-state as in Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc.? Or do you mean nation-state as in the United States? Excellent questions but I wouldn't expect an answer from Rivero other than implications that the U.S. military/intelligence community aided and abetted the hijackers.
Why should he spoil his record now?
To: Michael Rivero
Michael, how do we KNOW that sky marshalls are even being used in any SIGNIFICANT numbers? What if they only fly on 1 flight out of a hundred? Then, how hard would it be to get so lucky?
P.S. I do not dispute that the terrorists might have had support of one (or more) nation states.

From the financial markets to sports to many other endeavors, Americans are postponing normal events to mourn and honor the dead.
Why don't you take a moratorium on your craziness- at least until the dead are buried.

I doubt that we still have sky marshalls.

Your view of airport security is sanguine, to put it mildly. I did not smuggle a knife on board an airplane. I did it in broad daylight. I handed the thing to the security person. And I have done it repeatedly. And I know I am not an anomaly. I have spoken to others who do the same thing. IT IS NOT EVEN ILLEGAL.
faa faq I guarantee you it happens thousands of times every day (when the planes are flying).
As far as the air marshall issue - I have said, air marshal presence is rare. All they had to do was take their chances.

The author is referring to a 100% success rate in getting on the planes.

For terrorists operating in a strange country far from any support? Well, you just couldn't stay away, could you, Michael/FormerLurker? Why am I not surprised that this story brought you out of the woodwork. What's the weather like in Hawaii?
Most likely the terrorists were living here for quite some time, and had people inside the airports to assist them. In other words, foreigners living here long term.
Please use some restraint and try not to fall all over yourself exploiting this tragedy for your own purposes.

"I doubt that we still have sky marshalls." The Honolulu airport says otherwise. I checked.

Why am I not surprised that your response is the usual ad hominem attack?
To: Michael Rivero
There has not been a single report that any armed hijacker was arrested on the way TO an airplane yesterday morning. Why would they be? They spotted a huge hole in airport security. Airport security in this country is based on the notion that only lone gunmen hijack planes. They never envisioned a successful hijack with box cutters. Stone simple.
100% success rate choosing flights without sky marshalls.
Take your idiocy somewhere else, Rivero. We haven't had Sky Marshalls for years.

"Take your idiocy somewhere else, Rivero. We haven't had Sky Marshalls for years." Discovery Wings had a show on them just two weeks ago, and I called the Honolulu airport on this. Sky Marshalls are still used. Passengers and hijackers aren't supposed to know they are there (as you demonstrate).

The sky marshall program barely exists, if at all.
But, like every other tragedy to hit this country, Rivero will whip the militia and anti-government types into a frenzy, with the CIA and FBI ultimately to blame for this tragedy.
Michael is as predictable as clockwork.

Having that kind of ability takes the resources of a nation state, not a fringe group. Interesting, but pure speculation on your part and I believe not the most plausible possibility. Do sky marshalls routinely fly on planes? Do they fly on the same route or random routes? And please refer to several articles on FR in the past that demonstrates how airport security has been brached in the past. If indeed the only weapons were knives of some sort, could those could more easily be concealed.

I don't trust a single thing you post anymore, because I can't tell if it's a fact or something you pull out your backside, because so much of what you post has been pulled from there.

Michael, stop beating around the bush. Do you mean nation-state as in Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc.?I think he means Israel. Of course, there is no EVIDENCE that Israel was involved in this, but Michael Rivero rarely bases his theories on evidence.

Note that Michael Rivero/FormerLurker depends completely on innuendo in his post. Little or no fact, but he also is careful not to assert anything strongly, either. Just plant doubts, wink-wink, and then run for cover.
People like Michael Rivero ruin FR for everyone.
