Moving On

I am not sure conservatives - including many readers of this website - quite grasp the scale of what happened on Tuesday. Outgoing Florida governor Ron DeSantis called it "an extinction-level event", and pointed out that of America's ten most populous states his was now the only one with a Republican government. At the federal level, as JD Vance observed en passant, the GOP has no realistic expectation of recovering the Senate until the mid-2030s.

Intraparty disputes between soi-disant rock-ribbed conservatives and jelly-spined RINO squishes are irrelevant: whether you're Susan Collins or Vivek Ramaswamy, Greg Abbott or Darline Graham - and ultimately Donald Trump or, say, Nikki Haley - you're a loser. Sixty per cent of Michigan Jews plumped for a Muslim Brotherhood fanboy running ads about all the benjamins the Zionists fleece from you rube taxpayers for killing photogenic Palestinian moppets. Why would they vote like that? Because at least the Muzzie hasn't got an R after his name. In Alabama, of all places, a GOP incumbent was taken out by a tranny. Not "taken out by a tranny" in the Lindsey Graham sense of a romantic evening à deux, but a state rep in a district Trump won three times whose political career got totalled by a fetching young lady who shattered the Alabammy-tranny ceiling to become the state's first trans legislator. Why? Because, Muzzie or tranny or Somali "learing center" entrepreneur, anyone's preferable to a Republican.

Emphasis mine, and just to stay some voters are simply insane.

But I also believe there was widespread fraud.... the voter numbers just do not add up.

The Republican Party is about to go on the ash heap of history.

There IS a battle ongoing between MAGA and GOP....so far they have sorta stayed as one. Trump obviously knew a 3rd party would NOT work...it is a work in Progress...IMHO.

History tells us the Whig party dissolved, and was replaced by the Republican party as the second major party in this country.

Many former Whigs became Republicans.

Could this happen again? What would replace the Republican party?

There have been two major parties for almost all of American history, but they haven’t always been today’s Democrat and Republican parties.

If the Republican party truly went away, some other party or parties would likely arise. Otherwise we’d all would be just some version of Democrats.

Another FReeper, I don't recall who, said "Texas was the kill shot."

Indeed. About the only thing going for us is that the Great Collapse will be under Democrat rule.

I am doubtful that either Cruz, DeSantis or Vance will be the '28 nominee,...

Ted Cruz will never be president. Don't get me wrong I think he would be fantastic but he doesn't have enough national appeal.

Strange how he omits Marco Rubio. JD Vance may be seen as a traitor so that would disqualify him.

DeSantis - great!

A better way to say it is Trump has driven them insane and they prefer their crazed choices to more of Trump. Trump fatigue. More like Trump insanity.

Stop calling the losses fraudulent.

Sober up. We’re looking at President AOC with a super majority.

Knowing all of this it's unconscionable that the elder members of SCOTUS are rejecting retirement. We'll probably lose those seats eventually.

>>The Republican Party is about to go on the ash heap of history.

Possibly, but the GOP was also a pariah after Nixon and Watergate; the country eventually came to its senses. Granted, we had to suffer the Carter years first, but eventually we got Reagan.

The media will again give their “malaise” speeches, and try to convince us that Marxism is inevitable, but the shining city on the hill is still there behind the clouds.

Neither Trump nor MAGA are “conservative” in any meaningful way. Conservatives are supposed to be rational and consistent in their approach to our government and institutions. All MAGA has done is attack our institutions, leading to the anger that powered this election.

At least I learned 2 new words: ‘soi-disant’ and ‘self-bollocksing’ from the article.

I do support removing the IRGC. I don’t support ‘deal no deal’ dithering.

(...) the GOP will be making the same mistake as it has these last eight months: they will be on TV night after night not talking about anything that matters to their (remaining) voters. See Kharg Island, Pickaxe Mountain and the "reflecting pool". What's it all about - algae?

Knowing Steyn's penchant for for show-tunes, this is hilarious.

It will have to be the Democratic Party splitting into two, with the more Centrist part of the party.

Exactly. If PJT and the Senate leadership had any clue whatsoever, they'd be racing ahead with this ASAP.

But no, we have Trump and Thune being arrogant obstinate imbeciles, just like they've been since winning the trifecta on Election Day 2024.

We need an American Party, pro family, anti immigration, pro small business, pro gun rights, pro freedom, pro life, strong defense but not entering foreign engagements.
