Democrat Allison Montgomery will become Alabama’s first transgender legislator after she won the state’s House District 25 on Tuesday night, unseating Republican Phillip Rigsby and persevering in a district President Donald Trump won three times.
Montgomery’s victory came as Democrats had an overwhelming performance in the midterm elections. Democrats flipped control of the U.S. House and U.S. Senate, as well as several gubernatorial seats, including in Texas and Ohio.
State legislatures also saw Democratic victories on Tuesday night, including Montgomery’s win in House District 25 in northern Alabama. Montgomery won with 53.3 percent of the vote to Rigsby’s 46.7 percent, with 95 percent of the votes tallied. She light-heartedly told Newsweek on Wednesday that she's already "tired of hearing the word 'historic'" when used in reference to her victory.
"People across the political spectrum seem to be making a big deal out of the trans thing, but that's not why I ran for this seat," Montgomery told Newsweek. "I felt a calling to be a public servant, and now I'm gonna do my best for all of us, regardless of how you voted or what you think of my gender. Because ultimately, I meant what I said in this campaign and I meant what I outlined in my platform—so I'd like to see other folks steer things back to substantive policy discussions, too, just like I've been doing."...
House District 25 falls within Madison County, which Trump won by 9 percentage points in 2024. Trump won the county by 8 points in 2020 and 16 in 2016.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, she’s a lady
Oh, whoa, whoa, she’s a lady
Listen to me, people, she’s a lady
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, she’s a lady
Whoa, whoa, whoa, she’s a lady
Talkin’ about the little lady

Allison is just a plain old swingin’ d***. And so homely.
That district isn’t all she “flipped.”

Alabama...tranny ahole legislator, homo sheriff...Texas blue not red anymore...
The rot in this country is pervasive and deep. There is no Pollyanna “oh gee...it will be ok!”
In my county, R candidates were swept out. I don’t think a single R won statewide or locally. I now have to be “represented” by some D ahole in Congress and be ignored by commissioners and councilmen except at tax time and when they steal services to pay for their give-aways.
I am angry and disgusted. Ron DeSantis is right. The failure to finish the war probably drove a lot of this. I know it pissed me off: you don’t stop when you had the sand pounders on the ropes to negotiate...you kill them til they are dead. Then you accept the surrender of those who are left. BIG blunder imho that has given us 2 years of insufferable Chuckyou Schumer and Icescream Jeffries.
Eff the lot of them. Every damn one of them.
The county is more “diverse” now, including more foreign born residents according to AI. RINOs have done their jobs well.
Every election year, Democrats commit massive fraud that is in-your-face obvious.
Maybe they finally found a way to be discreet about it and the epic fraud happened again without being so obvious.
A tranny winning in Alabama is evidence for this theory.
🎼Sweet homo Alabama...
Due to the devil and demons and the people’s submission to what is offered, “truth and goodness” suffer another defeat.
LOL I didn’t want to do it 😂
I thought of it too
Too many good Alabama folks
And Florida’s Lynyrd Skynyrd group was awesome
The Democrats would do that if they could (make Alabama gay)
How could Republicans let that happen?
Texas, Kansas, ...
Madison County is Huntsville area in northern Alabama. It’s a technology corridor with lots of government workers and highly educated types. Stir in foreigners and maybe you get a congressional district where this can happen. Especially if Republican voters are unenthusiastic which seems to be the story of this election. I’m reminded of Roy Moore’s defeat back in 2017, which was an indication that Alabama isn’t an impregnable fortress.
Old voters dying off, new young voters not worth a damn. Someone tossed a brick through the Overton window, and followed it with a Molotov cocktail.
Yeah sad
