Road Trip: Tobyhanna Army Depot, Pennsylvania

PAtobyhannaarmydepot1

Tobyhanna Army Depot (previously known as Tobyhanna Signal Depot), is tasked to provide logistical support for Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C5ISR) Systems for the United States Department of Defense.

The depot was established on February 1, 1953 and is located in Coolbaugh Township, Monroe County, near Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania. As the largest industrial employer in Northeastern, PA, their capabilities include support for sustainment, overhaul and repair, fabrication and manufacturing, engineering design and development, systems integration, technology insertion, modification, and global field support.

Tobyhanna Army Depot also facilitates the United States Air Force Technology Repair Center for Tactical Missiles and Rigid Wall Shelters and Portable Buildings.

PAtobyhannaarmydepot4

The depot also is the largest employer in northeastern Pennsylvania, with more than 5,000 personnel working at the installation. The depot's regional economic impact approaches $2 billion annually. The depot also operates 30 Forward Repair Activities at major U.S. installations and overseas, including in Southwest Asia.

In late 2016, it was reported that the depot now uses an anechoic chamber to test radars by simulating signals and targets. The initial cost of the chamber was recouped in around eight months because the systems did not have to be shipped to the Yuma Proving Ground.

Plaques and statues, trees and other objects paying tribute to key figures and special events in depot history dot the landscape. In addition, numerous military and civilian awards reflect the depot’s long-standing commitment to the environment and safety. Tobyhanna programs for antiterrorism, and injured and disabled employees have earned Army-level recognition. The depot has five Army Lean Six Sigma Excellence Awards, an Army Superior Unit Award, the Army Chief of Staff Maintenance Excellence Award for Depot Maintenance and seven SHINGO medallions.

We had a big 3-day family wedding this past weekend, so I am bushed, LOL! ALOT of celebrating.

I’m keeping an eye on the weather radar, lots of red in the storm coming, so I must go secure some patio items outside. It can get dicey for sure, but we need the rain.

Hope you have a pleasant week!

*HUGS*

Hi, lauren! You’re very welcome!

Are you looking forward to the cooler weather tomorrow? Do you have high winds this evening? We sure do.

Ooooo! Fun time over the weekend. But that much fun can be a little dangerous when Monday morning rolls around and it’s time to work. LOL

I’m keeping an eye on that line of storms too. They’re closing in on you and a friend of mine who recently moved to Dallas. And poor Gizmo is under the bed since storms are already hammering them in OK.

The fun reaches us late tomorrow night and Wednesday. Like you, we need the rain but not the wild stuff!

Hey radu, the weather is sunny but cold of course, no complaints.

Son as usual has dinner here and then we play video games and have a few brews.

You and the 'lil furbutts surviving?

Hey there, radu!

Pretty much, but I haven’t actually gone out to experience it. LOL! Though I will right now, as it’s time to feed the kitties. :).......AAAAND, it wasn’t that awful close to the house. About 17mph right now.

Did you get Champ tucked into his barn and the plants rearranged for winter? Maybe it’ll eventually arrive. Maybe.

Supper, some brews, and savin’ the world. Sounds like y’all had a fine evening. :-)

Not cold here just yet but it’s coming later this week. Been mighty nice here the past couple of weeks and I hate to see it end.

The furbutts are all doing well. Been pretty quiet this evening and I’m enjoying it while it lasts. LOL

Pretty blustery but could be worse. Enough to make your hair dance on your head when you go out to feed the kitties. LOL

I’ll get Champ out to the shop sometime this week. Probably should have done it today. Might do it tonight. I need to make more pimento cheese before I do anything. The R women’s group treasurer invited those of us who worked the tent during early voting to an election night party at her house tomorrow evening. We’re all taking a little something to eat and she requested I take pimento cheese sandwiches. People seem to like them. That’s fine. They’re easy.
Might wait until Thursday, now that I think about it. It’ll be plenty warm for them until then. Friday is when the temp starts dropping.

Well, yes it did mess with my hair a bit. Not too bad though. If I had walked down the sidewalk, it might have been worse. The kitties were skittish because of it, though.

Mmmm....your pimiento cheese samiches sound very good. I used to make it all the time till we discovered that “Price’s” brand at the grocery store that tastes just like it, and I don’t have to mess up a bunch of stuff to make it. Yes, I am lazy. LOL! I’m sure the ladies are looking forward to eating yours, though.

At least your hair’s not real long where the wind will whip it around and beat your face with it. LOL I braid mine on real windy days.

I imagine the kitties weren’t happy at all with it blowing that hard. A little breeze is one thing but strong wind freaks kitties out.

I can’t remember what brand it was but years ago, there was one that had some sweet pickle relish in it that I used to buy. The pickles made a big difference and I loved it. Then it disappeared. POOF!
I only make it when I’m going to a party where we take finger foods. I guess they like it because now it’s a request when I’m invited. LOL That’s fine. It’s easy and only a spoon and fork get messed up when it’s made. Mine’s made and in the fridge blending now. I’ll make the sandwiches right before I leave tomorrow.

First order of business will be heading out to vote.
