A Democrat Alaska Senate candidate’s campaign sought out and convinced a retired teacher with the same name as her Republican opponent to put his name on the ballot in an apparent effort to dupe voters, review of communications and interviews reveal.
Interviews, text messages, and documents prepared for a potential lawsuit obtained by The New York Times reportedly prove that Democrat Mary Peltola’s campaign:
Instructed a staffer to find as many people in Alaska named Dan Sullivan (the Republican candidate) as possible.
Compiled a list of Alaskan Dan Sullivans, based on voter records.
Employed an operative using a fake name to travel to, and meet with, each Dan Sullivan to convince him to declare himself a Senate candidate.
Persuaded a retired teacher named Dan Sullivan living in a tiny fishing village accessible only by air and sea to announce his candidacy for the state’s Senate.
Involved the Peltola campaign’s lawyers and senior aides at the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC).
Dubbed the scheme “the ballot composition project.”

Isnt this a CRIME..she needs to be removed from the ballot, can you imagine if ANY Republican did this what the commies would be saying..she went through the voter rolls in Alaska trying to find someone with the same name and paid him off
This will need to be memory holed before the Sunday talk shows. A 20 second mention will be good. That will allow for “this is old news” canard by the weekend.
I was listening to the Vince Show this afternoon and the same question came up. Why would the NYT release this story?
Vince speculated that they may have intended to release it after the midterms but it may be (still speculation) that a whistle-blower will come forward regarding this story and the NYT wanted to be the first out there with it so that they can frame the story to their liking. Or something like that :)
This has to be the nastiest, most insulting thing we’ve seen done in politics.
If it works it’s the fault of idiot voters.
WATCH: CNN's Dana Bash, Mark Preston, and Alayna Trenne DEFEND Alaska Democrats and Mary Peltola's campaign after The New York Times bombshell confirms they worked with national Democrats to find another "Dan Sullivan" to run in #AKSen to confuse voters “So, this is not illegal. It is not new” “Listen, two things you said very important. It’s not illegal and it’s not new.” “I use the term dirty tricks intentionally because it’s — it’s not illegal. This is something that — is untoward. It is something that Democrats have tried to do in races where they think it could be to their advantage to run candidates that could siphon votes away from Republicans and Republicans do the same. I mean, just in Alaska alone, Mary Peltola, who’s now on the ballot for the senate, she lost her House race two years ago. On that ballot, there was a candidate who was literally in prison who was reportedly recruited and — and kept on the ballot at the behest of Republicans. There’s a socialist running in Ohio with the hopes of taking votes away from the Democrat, Sherrod Brown. These are dirty tricks. They are legal, dirty tricks. But again, at a time when you have a President and his — supporters, particularly those with very big platforms, trying to undermine the election, and Alaska is a potentially key and even pivotal, pivotal Senate seat that could determine the outcome of the control of the Senate, it’s a big deal.” “It’s absolutely a big deal, and I think there’s no question, despite as you all have pointed out, and I think it’s worth saying, again, this was not illegal, something that [Republicans] are going to blow up.”— Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) October 28, 2026
THERE IS NOTHING HIDEN THAT WILL NOT BE DISCLOSED, NOR NOTHING SECRET THAT WILL NOT BE BROUGHT TO LIGHT.
THIS IS A $1,000,000.00 WINNER !
The demoncrats love that trick.
In 1946, Joe Kennedy hired a man named Joe Russo to get his name put on the ballot for US Congressman for Massachusetts’ 11th District. Joe’s son John (JFK) also was standing for that office, but so was a third man, who by sheerest coincidence also happened to be named Joe Russo.
It may not be ‘illegal’ in the criminal sense, but a conspiracy to confuse and defraud voters in an election sure sounds like a juicy civil suite. I wonder how big those campaign and party election committee coffers are.
Not following this.
Shady- yes.
Illegal - how?
The Incumbent Senator has the word “INCUMBENT” next to his name.
Correct?
The big issue in Alaska is RCV.
Huge issue.
It is not illegal

Good manners cost nothing.
Bad manners makes you look like a peasant.
I’ve never seen the word “incumbent” on a ballot.
Yeah great blame the victims.
GOP operatives should plant it in social media for Democrat voters to believe that the way to defeat the real Dan Sullivan they should be voting for the fake Dan Sullivan as their first choice and make no other choices...
Ha
She’s denying it.
