Churchill quipped that, “democracy is the worst form of Government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.”
Our system has plenty of flaws, but parliamentary democracy is so much worse, and the Israeli flavor of it, party parliamentary democracy untethered from regional representation, and controlled by an all-powerful judiciary is even worse.
The way the Israeli system currently works is that the two old dominant parties, the conservative Likud and the leftist Labor, disagree on two fundamental issues…
1. Labor wants to destroy the economy by controlling it at every level. Likud wants to privatize it.
2. Labor wants to turn over Israel to Islamic terrorists. The Likud has tried to slow down the rate at which this is happening.
Understandably, Labor isn’t very popular outside Tel Aviv and a few liberal communities. On the other hand, the Likud can’t seem to produce a candidate who isn’t Netanyahu, but to be fair he has a whole lot of accomplishments in addition to his politicking skills.
All of this ought to make for relatively simple elections, but since Labor is unpopular, it just resorts to throwing out a fake third party, usually fronted by a recently retired general or TV host, to act as a false flag for it. Since there’s already a whole lot of parties, the more the merrier.
So Netanyahu is running against a trojan horse party. And there are multiple other parties, a handful legitimate, some crooked, and some outright terrorist parties, including the Muslim ‘Joint List’ which includes the Muslim Brotherhood.

Much like the last bunch of elections.
Contrary to media narratives, the public didn’t ‘rebuke’ Netanyahu. At least not more so than the previous ‘rebukes’. The elections are madhouses with narrow margins and challenging conditions for forming coalitions. Anyone who knows Israeli politics could have predicted that last part and did.
Of course we’re still dealing with exit polls so who knows.
So who won? It’s not clear. The real question is who can put together enough seats to form a coalition. The leftist anti-Netanyahu coalition can only form by relying on the ‘Joint List’ which celebrated its projected growth in Knesset seats by thanking Allah and dedicating its victory to Gaza.
And people wonder why Netanyahu keeps being in office.

Netanyahu is approaching the de Galle point. “Apres moi, le deluge.”
Louis XV came back to life as Charles de Gaulle?
The US launching another series of attacks on Iran is unlikely to help things get sorted either.

Yet another ignorant "journalist" who doesn't know the difference between Parliamentary systems and the US.
Hopefully, the restored Davidic monarchy will very soon make all this superfluous.
Yep, dealing with religious fanatics is a whole different world.
Doesn’t Denmark also have a form of pure democracy and as a result in inherently unstable?
