One DACA Recipient Explains How a Rule Change Will Upend Her Life

“Oh,” said the DMV employee, studying Itzel Zavala’s papers. “It’s one of you.”

It was early October, and Zavala* had driven across town to the DMV in Dickson, based on a rumor. The previous Friday, she’d tried to renew her license in Lebanon, closer to her home. She’d gathered her papers, including a recently renewed work permit, and handed them to the lady at the counter. “Hey,” the woman told her. “I can’t renew your license.” Since Oct. 1, she explained, a new law was in effect. The state would no longer grant driver’s licenses to DACA, short for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, recipients like Zavala.

“I’m sorry,” she said. “I can’t do anything about it.”

“I can’t do anything about it.” From a college educated person with a TEMPORARY visa. Yes, there is something you can do about it. There are several ways she can obtain a permanent visa and a path to citizenship. There are several ways she can self-deport. There are several ways (she mentions Uber) she can adapt to reality.

I previously have listed 4 types (but not all) who should be deported.

Maybe a 5th type is needed. Those who can't take personal responsibility for their decisions.

DACA is a program that should have never been implemented - but was in 2021 thanks to Obama.

We gave them free educations, allowed them to live in our country, most likely they collected EBT and welfare as well, paid for by American taxpayers.

Now it’s time to go, you’ve mooched off of us long enough.

I already know YOUR home country wouldn’t do the same for me.

BTW, the illegal that tried to destroy the WW II monument near Quantico, Virginia was DACA. And, a judge just let him go...

Many things that the Democrats have done have upended my life. That Biden’s administration let millions illegally enter our nation has had effects on all of our lives, and dramatically upended the lives of many - particularly those who were killed by illegals.

I keep trying to tell the folks in MA this exact thing. How much better would a Gen Z’s life be if tens of thousands of recent immigrants were not living in “low end” housing—pushing the existing owners “up the food chain.?”

How much better would our schools be if nearly 30,000 new students were not injected into a system not equipped to deal with them. In MA its akin to 8 brand new High Schools needed. This includes desks, chairs, chrome books, etc. And that bubble is going to take a decade to squeeze through a resource limited system.

They just don’t “get it” because social media tells them its Elon Musk’s fault (for some reason…)

Twenty years from now these kids will wake from their stupor and recognize the mistakes they made. And I fear, until then, there isn’t much we can do to help them.

I'll do you better: I list ONE type of illegal alien who should be deported. ANY illegal alien. ALL of them. No exceptions.

One DACA recipient is affected? That’s a tinier percentage of the population than trannies. Learn to Uber, Itzel . If that’s your REAL name. Not going to lose any sleep over it.

There have been numerous discussions between parties to do something to address DACA. The democRATS want full amnesty and path to citizenship. GOP wants concessions regarding border security and deportations. Path to citizenship is not an option for GOP. Longer work permits, was the best option. RATS refuse to negotiate in good faith they like the issue politically. So DACA recipients are a politically footballs. Green cards are not an option because they can lead to citizenship. If the RATS negotiate on sanctuary cities opening jails to ICE, pass laws in Congress codifying Trumps immigration EOs and fund ICE for next 8 years I would be okay giving green cards to any DACA with an high school diploma, no misdemeanor or felonies, long term employment, they would not eligible to live off taxpayers dime on SNAP or free healthcare. We know a couple of DACA folks married to Americans but they are gaming the system to not pay taxes. If they applied for a green card they would have to pay. Nice people but either you want to stay and follow the rules or leave.

The millions that voted for him (twice) are also to blame. That is why I hate them all.

Not as if Obama faced any stiff competition from the Republicans.
