Marine Le Pen is set to officially launch her presidential campaign this weekend at the National Rally two-day party congress in Orléans. The latest Ifop poll, carried out in the wake of the mass protests and riots in France, suggests the far right leader would win the first round of the presidential election by a wide margin, and far-left candidate Jean-Luc Melenchon emerged as her most likely opponent in the runoff.

Good news.

The failure of Macron to bring law and order has continued to bear fruit.

Another failure of his, forming part of the reasons the protests started (though the protests have been coopted to some extent by violent types) was due to him doubling military spending over the last decade, far beyond increases asked for by Trump, when that money could have been spent on personal benefits for the natives of France.

LePen supports spending on French natives, would have increased spending on military (but nowhere near the ridiculous levels Macron has) and hopefully will implement a policy of at least deporting the violent protesters.

What Macron has spent is ridiculous as the increase largely reflects internal military spending, not sent to Ukraine, and yet still increased by him despite no chance Putin would invade France, much less is even able to roll across Eastern Europe to its gates, as Russia doesn’t possesa the economic or military capabilities to pull this off.

And I say this all in the light of having been for some time now and still maintaining a position of being simultaneously anti-Putin and anti-Zelensky.

On the one hand, this can take down the Left on the other it can help Le Pen.

The die is cast. Macron’s Centrists are facing “Game Over”.

about 20 years ago when LePen’s father won a primary or something, a former work colleague from France was so incensed that he could hardly control himself. I can only imagine the tantrums he is throwing!

Both France and England always seem to be ‘on the verge’ of yet another national election.
When is this presidential election?

With Le Penn up in the polls, now is the time to hold the election. Popularity rises and dips in regular rhythms.
It rarely stays consistent for very long.

The failure of Macron to bring law and order ...

I wouldn't say he "failed". He repudiated law and order as a matter of public policy.

And not Macron alone, it is the entire globalist ruling class faction.

And I would bet the leftists are building their “firewall” to protect the state against her should she win. They will hamstring her the same way the left hamstrings Trump here.
