U.S. president said he would be willing to discuss denuclearization with leaders of Russia and China
WASHINGTON—President Trump said Monday that he would be open to meeting with the leaders of Russia and China to discuss denuclearization.
Trump’s comments came after The Wall Street Journal reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin has proposed that he, Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping meet next month to talk about Ukraine in an attempt to negotiate an end to the four-year conflict that would favor Moscow.
Trump told reporters that he would be willing to join such a trilateral meeting, “not so much for Ukraine, because Russia, frankly, has been fine on Ukraine, they haven’t been doing much—and the same thing with China.” Rather, he said, “we would have it to talk about nuclear weapons and denuclearization.”
Trump said a meeting about denuclearization between leaders of the three countries would be “a very positive thing for the world.” Such a meeting would likely be held in China, he said.
Trump is scheduled to visit China next month for a meeting between countries of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, which would be his second visit to China in his second term.
While China hasn’t objected to the idea of a trilateral summit, according to sources familiar with the recent discussions, it is unclear whether Xi would agree to Trump’s proposed topic. Beijing has repeatedly refused to engage in arms control talks in the past.

Trump will meet with just about anyone to achieve a goal. This is nothing new.
Doesn’t mean he is going to ink a deal. He is just going to talk. I see no problem there.
Back during the Cold War, this was just what the left said they wanted.
But now they will call it treason.
True. After all he met with Mamdani which means he’d talk to anyone. Kinda smears the Dems in Congress for being so hostile.
Just like Neville Chamberlain met with Hitler to carve up Czechoslovakia.
I'd like to send them all to Paris with all those protesters. GIANT ah****s of the FIRST order.
But as Wayne Gretzky once said: "...I’ve learned that 100 percent of the shots you don’t take don’t go in the net..."
I think of it as “Keep your friends close and your enemies closer”
“President Trump said Monday that he would be open to meeting with the leaders of Russia and China to discuss denuclearization.”
Hard to see how Zelensky will permit this.
“Just like Neville Chamberlain met with Hitler to carve up Czechoslovakia.”
You mean what the Czechoslovakians THEMSELVES later did in 1992?
Well, he had to make real estate things happen in New York City, which means he had to have dialogue with some nasty people, for sure.
It’s not about “de-nuclearization”, that’s a bait-and-switch con
Pootin is trying to get Trump to get Trump to agree to dividing the World into 3 spheres of influence - controlled by the US, China and, naturally, Russia
Everybody else would get shut out
Says the Russkie bot.
I know he doesn’t drink but a manly man will drink with his worst enemy. It’s something women don’t understand and can’t accept. When we share a beer guess what the subject is. That’s why they’ll never get it.
Zelensky has no cards to play at this table.
We found the vile, stinky Democrat troll. 🧌
Begone, lefty!
Of course. The point is, talking is not signing any kind of treaty or contract.
Reasonable people wait until the discussion begins to find out what is on the table.
“After all he met with Mamdani which means he’d talk to anyone.”
Truth!
“Says the Russkie bot.”
Says the Neocon suck-up.
Another Russkie bot.
