Leftists’ masks are coming all the way off — revealing the ugly truth
NY Post ^ | 19 Oct 2026 | Glenn Reynolds

Leftism’s flaw is that it cares too much.

Leftists are kind, generous people who just don’t understand the practical consequences of their ideas.

They feel too deeply and try too hard to prevent inequality as they live in a fantasy world of rainbows and unicorns.

Yeah, that’s a bunch of BS.

There may be a few such “useful idiots” (as Lenin called them) on the left, but these last few months the masks have been coming off.

The big October Surprise isn’t a surprise at all. It’s just a clear look at who the Socialists really are, and what they are planning. People who pay attention already knew all of that.

I feel that the masks have been coming off for several reasons.

At least one of them is because they realize that they have overextended their hands on a number of issues and painted themselves in a variety of corners. You hear about these “80-20 issues”, and they have found themselves on the 20% side of those issues.

And that is in no small credit to Trump, who has forced them into that. Those are issues like Voter ID and Immigration and deportation of hardened criminals.

Another reason is because of their funding sources. I know many people felt as I did when, after taking the oath of office, within weeks he had DOGE over at USAID and I wondered why. I wasn’t up on that agency, and wondered why.

Now we know: USAID was a source of a LOT of Leftist money. It was taxpayer money not only being used directly against taxpayers who opposed Leftist agendas via domestic “non-partisan” non-profits, it was also being sent overseas and in both cases, being funneled back into the pockets of the Left in this country.

Then there was the ActBlue organization. This organization was a conduit of a LOT of Leftist foreign money, sent overseas by USAID, and then sent back into the coffers of the Left via their non-secure, untraceable “donations” which in a lot of cases, was our very own taxpayer money coming back at us “Anonymously”.

Now, since 2020, we are also wise to the level of illegality. We woke up when we watched the chicanery going on in Michigan, Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia just to name a few, went to bed with Trump ahead in the counts and woke up in the morning to incredulously hear that Joe Biden got 81 Million Votes. We had neglected to take seriously all the court actions the Left was engaged in for months leading up to the election. We didn’t have any coordinated teams to monitor those actions, determine what the Leftists were trying to do, and oppose them.

According to Grok, The Brennan Center for Justice reported that 29 states + D.C. enacted 79 bills expanding voting access in 2020. Most involved mail/absentee voting (eligibility, deadlines, drop boxes, prepaid postage, applications sent proactively). These occurred primarily in states with Democratic control of the legislature and/or governorship (e.g., California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Nevada, New York, Virginia). Utah (Republican-controlled) was a notable exception that also expanded access.

We opposed almost none of them. But after the election was done, the Republicans had taken notice, and began fighting back.

In 2024, we had legal teams watching what was going on in the years leading up to the election, and when the Left began their efforts, we had legal teams looking at what they were doing and opposing it in the courts immediately instead of ignoring it. They also had legal teams at the ready on election night. We had poll watchers with cameras. We began ratcheting down the things they took for granted which were flying under the radar.

All these things have contributed to this current state. The Left thought they were going to keep Trump off the ballot, and if Harris had won, they were going to consolidate their hold on things.

But then Trump happened. And when he came in, he showed immediately he had learned lessons about Washington politics from his four years wandering in the wilderness while they hunted him.

Another thing happened I didn’t mention-every year in my lifetime, the Left would loudly and vocally “get out the vote”. These non-profits getting money from USAID and dark money were almost uniformly Leftist.

But have you noticed that this year, there is no fanfare from the Left about getting out the vote? Have you wondered why?

It is because they have discovered their get-out-the-vote activities were backfiring on them, and more citizens were being registered as Republicans!

According to Grok:
Post-2024 through 2025: Clear Republican gains
Republicans significantly improved their registration margins over Democrats in the year after the 2024 election. An NBC News Decision Desk analysis of seven competitive states that track party (Arizona, Maine, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania) found Republicans made large net gains in all of them from late 2024 to late 2025, including roughly 100,000+ net in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

CNN’s Harry Enten has highlighted that the GOP is in its strongest relative party-registration position heading into a midterm in over 20 years. In key swing states (AZ, NV, NC, PA), Democrats have not gained ground since 2024, while Republicans have widened their margins by 4–8 points compared with Trump’s first midterm (2018).

Florida shows a particularly large Republican edge: Republicans expanded their lead in all 67 counties over the past two years, with far more new registrants and party switchers going Republican.

What that means is: Democrats found out they were registering more Republicans than Democrats!

So all of these things, a shortage of money on the Left, their modes of cheating being watched and ratcheted down on, the deportations of illegals, and we shouldn’t discount the executive orders Trump has put out:

Executive Order 14248 (March 25, 2025) — “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections.” which Directs the Attorney General to prioritize enforcement of laws restricting non-citizens from registering or voting Directs the Attorney General to prioritize enforcement of laws restricting non-citizens from registering or voting (including 18 U.S.C. §§ 611 and 1015(f)), enter information-sharing agreements with states on suspected election crimes, and take other steps on citizenship verification, voter-list maintenance, and related issues.

Executive Order 14399 (March 31, 2026) — “Ensuring Citizenship Verification and Integrity in Federal Elections.”
Directs the creation and transmission of “State Citizenship Lists” of confirmed U.S. citizens, places rules on mail-in/absentee ballots via the U.S. Postal Service, and instructs the Attorney General to prioritize investigation and prosecution (under existing statutes such as 18 U.S.C. §§ 2, 241, 371, 611, 1001, 1015, and others) of officials or others who issue or distribute federal ballots to ineligible individuals.

On the last one (EO 14399) it states: “...and instructs the Attorney General to prioritize investigation and prosecution of officials or others who issue or distribute federal ballots to ineligible individuals...”.

Now, the Left has been rolling out challenge after challenge to these things, but as soon as they did that, Trump and his DOJ have begun prosecuting non-citizens for voting, threatening to prosecute jurisdictions who refuse to abide by rules on the books against non-citizen voting, and so on.

Add in that Assistant Attorney General Harmeet Dhillon (head of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division) is sending those election observers to all states to “ensure nobody’s civil rights are violated)

All these things in a critical election for the future of our nation, are being clamped down on the process, and the Left is feeling the pressure, coupled with an unbelievably bad field of candidates across the board.

Republicans may indeed lose the House, the Senate, or both. But if they do, it isn’t because they aren’t fighting the chicanery of the Left.

And on top of it all, keep the faith: If they do lose, it will be part of God’s plan, and God doesn’t make mistakes. His ways may be mysterious to us, but in the end, I do not believe God is on the side of a bunch of open liars and murderers like the Left, and especially not when people like Talarico say His Son doesn’t exist, isn’t who he says he is, didn’t die on the cross for us, and wasn’t resurrected.

If Republicans do lose, as is usual in Mid-Term elections for the party in power, then God has a good reason for it, and I will trust in God.

When they mercilessly went after Trump, even to the extent of getting the NY State Assembly to retroactively change the laws regarding alleged sexual assault to activate a 20 year old claim? Tried to confiscate $450 million worth of property over a subjective discrepancy about the appraised value on a loan between two sophisticated parties in which neither party was injured? When they tried to kick him off the ballot for insurrection when there wasn’t even an indictment let alone conviction? When they raided his wife’s panty drawer over a dispute between his documents and the Presidential archives (even though POTUS can declassify any document and there is no official process to do so)?

When they cheered the public assassination of Charlie Kirk? Or the attempted assassination (and murder of a bystander) of a POTUS and candidate for POTUS?

When they shoot at and otherwise assault federal agents enforcing immigration laws?

When they say they have the break the law to stop the man they accuse of breaking the law?

The Cornell 8 is the final straw. Trying to take away our right to consensual drunken sloppy sex is a bridge too far!

Thank you for referencing that article Rummyfan.

Leftism’s flaw is that it cares too much [with 16th Amendment-facilitated taxes].

There! Fixed it.

That being said, Trump's red tsunami of Democratic and Republican supporters, evidenced by his third win in 2024 elections, need to help preserve his legacy by likewise giving Republicans a record-breaking win in the midterm elections.

I’m pretty sure that’s not an explicitly enumerated right. But AFAIK it is not explicitly prohibited either, as long as it involves consenting adults.

“Only 4.26 years left.”

Quit reminding me! My running joke with Beau is that at age 70 I’ll have a MINOR heart ‘episode’ - but bad enough to get my attention.

And THEN I’ll start running Marathons again after a decade of...not running Marathons, LOL!

Leftists are kind, generous people

What a crock. They're kind enough to make sure they are grossly overcompensated for their generosity with other people's money taken at gunpoint. Complain about it and you're as good as dead.

Thanks for informing us of your opinion, after reading just one sentence. Perhaps now you have the time to read the rest of the article and discover why the author made that (sarcastic) statement.
