WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump on Friday signed an executive order that puts on hold a sweeping new sanctions package targeting the Russian economy, telling Congress the pause was in the national interest. Trump personally signed the legislation just last month. Named after late South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, it had sought to clamp down more quickly on the flow of financial resources fueling the war against Ukraine.

Piss on reliable long term trading partners because Russia is the only sensible place to meet needs.

Pure brilliance.

Little Z was just in Brussels begging for $155 Billion more dollars. He stated if you (EU) want Ukraine to keep fighting Russia, give me$155 billion more.....now.

Good.

I’m sick & tired of ideologues getting in the way of the business interests of the United States.

What a massive betrayal of Ukraine. Ukraine, say hello to our former ally South Vietnam when you get to the graveyard of those countries America worked to protect until we didn’t. Trump is going to run out of tyrants to cozy up with soon, nothing but good words for Kim, Putin, Xi. If only the Iranians knew how to handle him, they would be on his good side too.

Trump is looking out for his own political and financial interests and Russia’s national interests at the expense of US national interests in a desperate and flawed attempt to avoid a blue wave landslide in the mid terms. At best, dropping the sanctions on Russia and financing their war machine could get the price of diesel in the USA to fall a small amount and the pain at the pump would continue while Ukraine gets slaughtered.

And Trump just signed the bill passed by Congress to finally put strong sanctions on Russia for their brutal invasion of Ukraine and now he has abruptly reversed himself and ended those sanctions. So what has changed?

BTW,Trump has claimed that the price of oil, gas, and diesel would quickly fall after the midterms so why the need to give Russia this gift now?

Perhaps the answer lies in this article?

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck.

There is only one rational explanation left...
Russia is blackmailing Trump.

KOMPROMAT...
This seems to be Russia’s card against America, at this very moment.

Trump is not the Trump I knew. He has suddenly completely changed.

This has to be more of Dear Leader’s Fourth Dimensional Chess strategy. The Art of His Deal! Dear Leader is never wrong.

” ...the big news on U.S. foreign policy was that Trump announced that he was buying 300,000 tons of Russian diesel. He’s not allowed to do this: Sanctions preventing purchase of Russian oil are law, not a choice on Trump’s part.

But under Trump laws are suggestions at most, so it might happen anyway. In any case, the main lesson here, as Phillips O’Brien explains, is that Trump isn’t even hiding the fact that he is supporting Putin’s war against Ukraine.

But being a nerdy economist, my first printable reaction to the announcement was, 300,000 tons???

That’s a bit over 2 million barrels. America consumes approximately 4 million barrels of distillates — diesel (mostly) and heating oil — every day.

So Trump is betraying an embattled ally demonstrating our faithlessness to the whole world, seriously damaging whatever is left of America’s leadership in the world, for the sake of maybe 12 hours’ worth of diesel.”
