Elon Musk Pours a Fortune Into Saving Texas for Republicans

World’s richest man donates $158 million to effort backing Ken Paxton

Elon Musk is putting a small fortune into Republicans’ effort to salvage the Senate seat in Texas, seen as critical to the party keeping control of the chamber in the fall elections.

According to federal filings, Musk donated $158 million to Senate Republicans’ super PAC in September—the same amount that was immediately funneled to a group backing Republican Ken Paxton’s Senate bid.

The new disclosures show that Musk, the world’s richest person, is behind much of the money that has been pumped into the Texas Senate race to help keep Paxton financially competitive as his Democratic opponent James Talarico has significantly outraised him throughout the race.

Musk is a Texas resident and has several companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, based in the Lone Star State.

In September, Musk sent two large donations to the Senate Leadership Fund, Senate Republicans’ main super PAC.

On Sept. 9, the first day of the Republican midterm convention in Dallas, Musk funneled $75 million to SLF. The following day, the super PAC moved $75 million into a connected entity named Texas PAC. Two weeks later, Musk gave $83 million to SLF—and again, the following day, the group sent the same amount to Texas PAC, which is the biggest advertiser in the Texas contest, according to AdImpact data.

And in August, he also gave $10 million to Lone Star Liberty PAC, a super PAC boosting Paxton.

Overall, Musk gave more than $250 million to Republican-aligned groups in the third quarter, campaign-finance filings show. Among that was $89 million he gave to his own America PAC.

“If Democrats take control of Washington and win key gubernatorial and attorney-general races this November, then America risks becoming a socialist, woke and borderless country,” said...

Elon saw the mess Democrats made of California so he moved to Texas and now wants to prevent Democrats duplicating the California disaster!

If he were concerned with Texas policy, he should fund Abbott, not Paxton. The governor’s got himself a race too.

“Fortune” is relative. $158 million is pocket change to Elon. He spent a lot more than that for a car that does backflips.

Yep. Don’t get in the way of Elon’s flow of H1bs. As he said he’s willing to go to war over it.

Elon Mushk has several billions of reason to save Texaas:

Elon Musk’s Texas empire is vast, anchored by $3.4 billion in real estate holdings and a network of over 90 companies employing an estimated 28,000 people. His most significant recent investment is Terafab, a joint venture between SpaceX, Tesla, and xAI to build a 100-million-square-foot semiconductor facility in Grimes County. The project, dubbed the "largest and most valuable building on Earth," has an initial investment of $16.8 billion with a potential total capital outlay of $119 billion, and is supported by over $1.6 billion in state tax incentives.

He doesn't need Texas to be controlled by Democrats. For they screw up everything including wet dreams.

I don’t think it’s being spent very well. Paxton ads are amateurish.

I also heard that when you break down where the money is coming from int he polymarket that have Talafreako at 67% right now (or at least recently) the majority of the money betting for him to win is from outside of texas...and the majority of the money betting against him is from within Texas.

Boca Chica

Boca Chica is a coastal area in Cameron County, Texas, located about 20 miles east of Brownsville along the Gulf of Mexico. Historically known for Boca Chica Beach and the nearby village of Boca Chica Village, the region has become globally significant as the primary development site for SpaceX’s Starship launch facility, known as Starbase.
