On Sunday’s Meet the Press, Kristen Welker asked the Democratic Senate nominee in Michigan, Abdul El-Sayed, whether he could set the record straight on allegations that his family has ties to the Muslim Brotherhood. When she followed up to confirm that neither he nor his family had any ties to the group, wrote on June 24, 2012, as the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Morsi was taking power in Egypt, that “my family has long been MB.” The same day, she wrote about an amazing talk with their mother about their mother’s activism in the Muslim Brotherhood during college in the early 1970s. On July 3, 2013, the day the Egyptian military removed Morsi, she wrote that she had family jailed for being part of the Brotherhood and that she was praying for the relatives who support it to lie low and stay safe.
Their mother, Fatten Elkomy, attended Alexandria University, where, according to a 2012 Brookings report cited by the Free Beacon, the Muslim Brothers dominated the campus Islamic student group in that era. El-Sayed himself wrote in his book, Healing Politics, that his mother was a leader on campus, though he left out that her campus leadership role was in the Muslim Brotherhood.
Elkomy also worked for the Islamic American Relief Agency, which the Treasury Department designated in 2004 for financing al-Qaeda and Hamas. Court exhibits in the federal case against the group named her more than a dozen times in connection with wire transfers between 1999 and 2002, and her brother worked there as a bookkeeper. When Rogers raised Elkomy’s terror connections at last week’s debate, El-Sayed asked whether Rogers was going after his mom and accused him of using “foreign names” to scare voters.
To be fair to El-Sayed, no man should have to answer for his mother’s college politics from more than 50 years ago. Had El-Sayed told Welker that his mother was involved as a student, that some of his extended family in Egypt support the Brotherhood, and that he thinks they are wrong, that would have been an honest answer and probably the end of the story. Instead, he said no, twice, on national television.
El-Sayed’s problems are not his mother’s decades-old activism. His problems are his own defenses of the Brotherhood, his college membership in a Brotherhood college group, and his donors.
In January 2011, as protesters filled the streets of Cairo during the Arab Spring that brought down Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, El-Sayed wrote in the Huffington Post that the United States should back the uprising and that Americans had nothing to fear from the Brotherhood. Even if it took power in Egypt, he wrote, the resulting government would look nothing like Iran, because the movement was less hierarchical than other Islamists and willing to compromise. He made much the same pitch to President Obama in the Guardian.
The Brotherhood got its chance.
Mohamed Morsi won Egypt’s presidency in June 2012, and that November he granted himself sweeping new powers by decree. On November 25, 2012, an Egyptian news portal published a statement from 46 self-described leaders of the Egyptian community in America backing the president’s “revolutionary decisions” and calling on him “to purge the media and the police as quickly as possible.” The thirty-third signature belonged to Dr. Abdul Rahman El-Sayed of New York, who was then in medical school at Columbia. In the months that followed, at least six Egyptian journalists were hauled into court for insulting Islam and insulting the president.
El-Sayed did not simply misjudge the Brotherhood. In 2011, he assured Americans a Brotherhood government would not turn into a repressive theocracy. In 2012, when it began doing exactly that, he put his name to a demand that it go further and purge the press and the police. The Egyptian people rose up against the Brotherhood, filled the streets again in June 2013, and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi drove the Brotherhood out.
Asked on Fox News last week whether he supports the terror designation of the Egyptian branch of the Brotherhood, he said he would support a designation for any organization engaged in political violence. He then declined to say whether the Brotherhood qualifies. President Trump’s administration designated the Egyptian branch in January for helping Hamas. Ted Cruz and John Fetterman have a bill to designate the entire organization, and the European Parliament voted 381 to 167 last week to push the European Union toward putting Brotherhood-linked groups on its terrorist list.

There is a very important related article about the broader general problem of importing people who have no intention of assimilating but are here for conquest. See American Thinker today: The Problem Of Immigrants Whose Faith Mandates Conquest
These are not the hard-working economic immigrants of old; this is a whole new type of immigrant, and America must address the change soon.

...pluralism only works when cultural differences operate within a shared civic framework. Multiculturalism reverses that premise by asking America to accommodate differences without requiring assimilation. When immigration policy no longer reinforces a common framework—and when we become unwilling to examine its consequences—we are not preserving pluralism; we have sown the seeds of our own destruction. The central question is whether a society committed to individual liberty can remain coherent when it loses the will to reject individuals or groups whose norms contradict its foundational values. Over time, we have deliberately bent our rules to accommodate two categories: those who come here solely for economic reasons and those who seem to come in a spirit of religious conquest.
Economic migration has existed since the nation's founding, but two modern developments transformed it from beneficial to detrimental: easier entry from around the globe and a benefits system that attracts those seeking opportunity regardless of their ability to contribute.
That created a second, more complex challenge: the arrival of migrants whose religious framework is not merely a set of private beliefs but a complete system governing how believers live, their obligations to others, and a requirement to proselytize or even conquer—and that makes welfare not a gift, but a mandate from the new host country.
Classical Islamic scholarship draws this distinction through ibādāt—acts of worship governing the relationship between God and the believer—and muʿāmalāt—rules governing relationships among human beings, including family, inheritance, commerce, sexuality, and community life. Islam is not merely a faith; it also prescribes how believers must live and what to believe. Devout Muslims accept these obligations as divinely mandated, not optional. The concept of the ummah reinforces this: believers are members of a religiously defined community with obligations toward one another that extend across national boundaries.
Commies ran the Maine nazi. Now a muslim terrorist? Very consistent.
The more we know the worse it is. I guess the media’s slavish devotion to the rats overrides anything and everything. They will keep a lid on all of it so the Dem can win. The safety and protection of their own families is not enough to make them report this stuff.
“The safety and protection of their own families is not enough to make them report this stuff.”
Or the very survival of our nation. Their slavish devotion to multiculturalism, islamism, and communism regardless of consequences is astonishing.
He’s lying to the infidels, as all Fuslims do.
No worries, in the rat primary he beat Haley Stevens by a single point and she is considerably dumber than Kamala Harris if that's even possible.
Abdul El-Sayed had an active role in the Muslim Students’ Association (MSA) while attending the University of Michigan.
As an undergraduate student, El-Sayed was an active member and served as vice president of the campus Muslim Students’ Association. Political opponents and critics have argued that the MSA has historical and ideological links to the broader Muslim Brotherhood network.
Investigative reports and political campaigns have surfaced regarding family members (including past statements by a sister regarding their mother’s activism in Egypt decades ago).
El-Sayed has repeatedly denied any personal or family ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, characterizing the accusations as “politically motivated” attacks.
However his sister has said “my family has long been M/B.” She wrote about their mother’s activism in the Muslim Brotherhood during college in the early 1970s. On July 3, 2013, the day the Egyptian military removed Morsi, she wrote that she had family jailed for being part of the Brotherhood and that she was praying for the relatives who support it to lie low and stay safe.
Just remember all the IRA, Sandinista, Castro, Soviet, and Chicom supporting Dims that have been elected. That doesn’t even include all the KKK, Black Panther, Mafia, etc. supporters.
I have had to get myself to accept that in my state of Michigan and the others there are a LOT of BAD people.
I am not looking forward to my state of mind if we lose the midterms.
Skillfully and craftily.
When we were joking about Kamela, Biden and Tim Walz saying stupid things, we all knew deep down that an Antichrist style smooth talking charmer who had no hesitation to lie would be attractive to the dimwitted American people.
He is one---just one---of the demonic candidates.
