British soldiers are training in the Falklands to recapture the islands amid mounting intimidation from Argentina.
Around 150 British Paratroopers joined locally trained reservists to "war-game" an amphibious assault followed by close-quarters combat missions across the territory, according to The Times.
The six-day training exercise sought to emulate the Operation Sutton landings that repelled the Argentine invasion in May 1982.
Javier Milei, the president of Argentina, warned last month that his country could "act swiftly" to "recover" the South Atlantic archipelago, which he has long claimed is "under illegal foreign occupation".
He threatened at the United Nations General Assembly in New York "to take matters into our own hands" and assert Argentine sovereignty.
He said the islanders' self-determination "does not apply in this case, since the population was implanted by the occupying power on a territory whose sovereignty is in dispute".
On Monday, Andy Burnham, the Prime Minister, told the Commons he would do "whatever it takes" to defend the "clear and declared will of the islanders" to remain British.
Falkland Islanders displayed their desire to remain a British overseas territory in a 2013 referendum, with 99.8 per cent voting in favour.

Send the Gurkhas.
Train for Diego Garcia, too.
They could start by retaking London.
Which of their few ships can get there?
Will their Muslim overlords allow them to go there?
why do this matter that much to either party?
honestly, I dont get it.
The UK is not capable for such a distant battle right now.
It will go to Argentina.
They can’t even keep England anymore.
Uh, how about taking back the island they live on first. π΅βπ«
Whether the UK can hold the Falklands is another matter -
But the reality is that there WAS a plebiscite in the 80s — and it was 96% “stay in the UK”.
The most recent one was in 2013 - and had literally 99% turnout and ended up at literally 99.8% “stay in the UK”. I’m not exaggerating - the population of the Falklands is about 1650 people. 1518 voted. The UK vote was 1515 to 3.
Whether the current UK military could and would fight off an Argentine invasion is a different question. To what extent the US should be involved is a secondary question to that.
But at the end of the day? Put me down for supporting people who clearly do not WANT to be invaded and subjugated fighting off invaders.
I do not find this idea to be a particularly difficult or morally taxing idea to wrestle with.

In Argentina, when a government is failing, politicians use the issue to distract from their failures.
They dont have ships that can get them there, support the mission, and get them back, under their own power.
Why? Do they need more space for Muslims?
Forwa rd...prance!
In all sincerity though, they do have some serious troops...SAS, Ghurkas, highland regiments, etc. Problem is there aren’t a lot of them nor is there the political will to do jack.
Facts. Yes.
Nah.
THAT will be even more difficult!
Exact same thing in the UK.
