Spin it any way you want, inflation means higher cost of borrowing feeding more inflation as our economy is based on debt.

If the nation had real leadership, it would be explaining to people why this is not sustainable and looking for ways to reduce the deficit. But we don’t.

The index for gasoline rose 9.1 percent in September

And yet it's still significantly lower than under Biden.

Back in 2022, inflation was soaring at 9.1%, and gas nationally was over $5.00/gallon. The media narrative was these spikes were transitory and nothing to worry about.

Now that inflation is at 3.7% and gas is $4.00/gallon, that same media says we're all doomed.

What you say is true but it is Trump who is in office and it is Trump and his agenda that will suffer at the ballot box in three weeks.

The CPI was 2.4% for both January and February this year.

And the rate on 10-year U.S. Treasury bonds was below 4% on the day before this stupid military campaign in Iran began.

This isn’t what I voted for.

Gas was $3.12 on Inauguration Day. It’s now $4.33.

None of this is what I voted for. What I voted for we had in January of just this year. At that time Iran did not have nuclear weapons, they still do not have nuclear weapons but we have a mess on our hands. Thanks Don. Thanks a lot.

I think voters understand Trump when he says this is a small price to pay so that Iran doesn’t get a nuclear bomb.

Agreed, most people could care less about the past. They only care, and will vote based on the “what have you done for me lately” way of thinking,

Interest rates need to go up more since inflation is devastating—especially to those on fixed incomes. (like retirees).

Inflation is a tax increase that politicians never have to vote for.

I think they know its over and are just looting for themselves. In a household budget scenario they make $100K/yr, spend $134K/yr, and have $726K in debt. Cutting the spending in half it would still take 10 years to pay it off. However that isn’t even exactly true since the gov’t recoups approximately 17% of every dollar spent as tax revenue. Therefore it would require ~96% ($134,000/yr to $6,000/yr) reduction in spending for 10 years and a ~52% ($134,000/yr to $64,000/yr) reduction in spending for 30 years. Remember, the entire time SS is $30,000/yr, Medicare is $19,000/yr, Defense is $17,000/yr. Numbers were sourced across 2025-2026, scaled and rounded for clarity so they are off a little. However this was done to make them easier to understand rationally. This is also not taking into account any cascading effects. It seems to be an unpayable bill, so we are just going to continue making the minimum payment on the debt.

Good thing he fired all the legitimate statisticians and replaced them with politicized robots or the numbers would be even worse.

And the GOP flipped both the House and the Senate in the 2022 midterms.

I think people need to wake up and stop looking for excuses.

It blows my mind that we’re really using the same damn playbook that the DSA tried in 4 years ago: Things are going great and it’s the media’s fault for not focusing on the good news, it’s the “last guy’s fault”, and happy times are just a week away.

It didn’t work in 2022 so why in the world would anyone think to just dust off a failed playbook and think it would work this time?

I could literally anonymize statements from Potato Joe, Yellen, Deese, etc in 2022 and do the same with statements from DJT, Bessent, and Lutnick this year — and I bet everybody would have a hard time assigning them to the proper administration.

I can assure that if inflation DROPPED by the same rate, Fox News and the others would not have it as a lead story. Other anti-Trumpers on social media would also be silent.

You have lots of criticism but failed to mention any recommendations for corrective action. In your opinion, what is the proper strategy for the GOP to pursue?
