How the GOP weaponized trans issues and left Democrats searching for a strategy

At the Republican Party’s midterm convention, President Trump said he would make his crusade against transgender rights a major campaign issue ahead of the Nov. 3 election — calling the message that “men should not be playing in women’s sports” one of his party’s “great sound bites of all time.”

During a recent campaign trip, Gov. Gavin Newsom, a longtime LGBTQ+ advocate and likely Democratic contender for president in 2028, stood by his remark last year that allowing transgender athletes to compete in girls’ sports is “deeply unfair,” saying, “I haven’t been able to figure out how to make it fair from my perspective.”

For the second election cycle in a row, the rights of transgender people have taken center stage politically, despite their accounting for only about 1% of the U.S. population and many voters identifying other issues as far more important — splitting Republicans and Democrats, but also Democrats among themselves and putting the party on the defensive.

The politics are part of a much broader, international battle playing out in education, sports and the law, from local California classrooms and high school sports to the Olympic stage and the U.S. Supreme Court. Polling for years has shown most Americans oppose discrimination against transgender people, but also that a majority — including a substantial portion of Democrats — oppose transgender athletes participating in girls’ sports and children receiving gender-affirming care such as surgery or puberty blockers.

Republicans are pushing a well-funded message that transgender rights should be dismantled across the board, in healthcare, education, sports, the military and public spaces such as restrooms. Conservative mega-donors such as Elon Musk have spent millions amplifying that message in competitive races from Alaska to Ohio to Texas.

And to...

It took the author too long to make his point. I made it to the 3rd paragraph.

Democrats have a strategy to force acceptance of transgender activism. Worked in Obergefell.

Pretty rich coming from a party which encouraged loser men to pose as women so they could steal women’s athletic awards, invade their locker rooms and bathrooms.

Defending righteousness and civility is not weaponization. Assaulting righteousness and civility is.

LOL - the entire ethos of neo-marxists is “deconstructing” and organizing people on race, gender, sex, identify, class, etc.... and form them into leftist political blocs

the GOP pushes back and its “weaponizing.”

President Trump said he would make his crusade against transgender rights

Exactly what ‘rights’ have the pretend-men and pretend-women lost? The right for men to be in women’s sports, dressing rooms, bathrooms?

Now, for castrating minor boys, injecting minor girls with testosterone and cutting off their healthy breasts, I don’t think those are among the unenumerated rights mentioned in the Ninth Amendment, but then I’m not a wise Latina.

Pure projection. If by “weaponized” he means getting dissenters canceled, fired, fined, or thrown into jail, then I’d say the issue has already been weaponized by trans activists quite sufficiently.

The parts of the gay community tried to warn the DNC this was a problem about 8 years ago.
The $$$$$ coming from the tranny in Chicago was too much to resist.

The LA Slime has a large operational center on Olympic Blvd in downtown Los Angeles. It is owned by Patrick Soon-Shiong, a rabid left wing radical. The center is now abandoned, ringed with homeless encampments.
The paper is truly worthless as almost everything they print is opinion, not fact. The opinion page starts on the front page and runs to the last page. I don’t know how they make any money. The paper is literally half the size it once was and there are no longer any paper racks to buy it. I really cannot see this piece of garbage lasting more than a few more years. Patrick paid $500 million for it and I doubt it is worth half that now. I guess he bought it to spread his leftist filth, and in that regard it is doing well, but the money is not coming in.No one will miss it when it folds.

It wasn’t Republicans demanding men be able to go in the girls room and whip it out in front of our school age daughters, go into women’s sports and win all the top prizes because they have bodies enhanced by years of testosterone or try to force us to call them she/her/they and that other nonsense.

They were democrats doing that crap.

We just no.
