Andy Burnham's record at stopping the boats worse than Sir Keir Starmer's, figures show, with larger proportion of Channel migrants successfully reaching Britain

Andy Burnham’s record at stopping the boats is worse than Sir Keir Starmer’s, figures show.

Analysis of Channel crossings data found a larger proportion of migrants are successfully reaching Britain under Mr Burnham’s administration, raising fresh questions about whether the crisis is a priority for him.

It comes after a staggering 1,739 migrants – or one every six minutes on average – reached the UK during the first week of October.

The Mail analysis of Home Office data found that during Mr Burnham’s first ten weeks in Downing Street, 6,666 migrants successfully crossed the Channel in small boats.

This was two-thirds (66 per cent) of the total 10,048 who attempted the perilous journey during that period, meaning only a third (3,382) were intercepted by the French authorities.

But during ex-PM Sir Keir’s first ten weeks in office in 2024, barely half were successfully reaching Britain.

Of the 17,966 migrants who attempted to cross during the period, 9,959 (55 per cent) successfully reached Britain. Just over 8,000 (45 per cent) were blocked, 12 per cent more than under Mr Burnham.

Critics said the analysis was yet more proof that Mr Burnham isn’t taking the Channel crossings crisis seriously.

The former Manchester mayor failed to mention the issue in his maiden speech as PM on the steps of Downing Street in July and during his hour-long address at last week’s Labour party conference, raising suspicions it’s not a priority for him.

Tory shadow home secretary Chris Philp said: ‘It did not matter who Labour replaced Keir Starmer with – Labour are the problem.

‘Andy Burnham has learnt nothing from his predecessor, and the illegal Channel crossings keep coming.

I don’t understand. The UK still has the ability to elect its national leadership, doesn’t it? Andy Burnham didn’t take power in some coup. Do they want to destroy themselves as a people and a nation?

It should not be too hard to get a few volunteer boat owners to take squads of well armed soldiers out into the channel and remove the threat.

Too bad the British don’t have some kind of floating military that could put a stop to this.

Some are taking to the streets (Irish too)...but to be honest it’s very difficult to rise up against globalists due to technology and other factors...not making excuses for them but look at the truckers in Canada...they were so brave but when you get your bank account frozen and can’t eat it’s pretty daunting. I believe nationalists will prevail but it will be very difficult.

The movie, "Children of Men", from 2006, (recommended by someone on FR) was rather eye-opening, to me. I think the men of the UK think that they are "soldiering on, alone". They actually think they are heroes for taking in these "'Fugees".

This, I believe, is the power of state-run media. There is a non-stop echo chamber on the British Isles telling people what to think.

America is not much better. Our echo chamber is New York City and our supposed "Free Press". But, as it turns out, this may be slightly better. We seem to get a little break, now and then, from our "Dark Overlords".

“This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England,”

That’s not all the UK’s Deep State is getting away with.

Looks like if it has to call an early election, it plans to do away with requiring a photo ID at the polls first.
