President Donald Trump urged the Supreme Court on Friday to wade into his years long legal battle with former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton and ex-Justice Department officials over the 2016 election, appealing a case that a lower court concluded was "frivolous."
Trump filed the lawsuit in 2022 against Clinton, the Democratic National Committee and dozens of other people and entities he said conspired to undermine his 2016 campaign by falsely tying him to Russia.
A federal district court dismissed the suit and ultimately ruled that Trump's attorneys were liable for nearly $1 million in sanctions. The Atlanta-based 11th US Circuit Court of Appeals largely upheld that decision last year.
"This case should never have been brought. Its inadequacy as a legal claim was evident from the start," wrote US District Judge Donald Middlebrooks of the Southern District of Florida, who was nominated to the bench by former President Bill Clinton.
Trump's case was dismissed in part because, the district court said, his civil racketeering claims were filed too late. In his appeal to the Supreme Court, the president argues that he made a decision to wait until he was out of office. The appeal raises a question of whether a president's responsibilities warrant holding off on certain legal deadlines while he is in office.

Pressing for those charges while still in office would have been portrayed as a purely political assault. Waiting until out of office was adjudicated as...a purely political assault. No win-win available with that court.

I have TDS sufferers in my friend/family group so I know you are right. They’re so predictable there should be an ICD-10 classification
I have one who recently slipped in to TDS. She was a supporter, but always a card-carrying, group-attending Republican

They hate him for letting them down
They don’t get how this works. Rooting out centuries-old conglomerates takes time and planning
These are people who, in their professions think from a particular point and don’t needs to step back and review
They won’t do that here. And that’s just one particular type of TDS.
I have northeast-NYC tri state suburban women who hate him for no reason they’ll explain and will answer the question by attacking you to the point of calling their personal lawyer to look at suing you

They will ask very in your face questions invariably based on false premises and there is no way to correct it without practically having them call their attorneys

Some of them love Trump, military wives for instance. You have them over for coffee and their head spins around out of nowhere and through to pea soup they’ll say- ‘my son tells me Trump was at Epstein island frequently. These women are educated. They have doctorates
That’s when I stop to google. Very quietly. I just say, ‘that’s not true’
They get someone in their ear screeching about Trump and they want to buy it
They don’t go to the basics- Trump acts within legal bounds of the declaration and the Constitution and the UCMJ. He does not waver.
TDS people take such nasty enjoyment pretending he doesn’t. There is proof. They don’t see that the democrats, regardless of how corrupt they are, would have him in jail so fast if he were as much as jaywalking
