Trump says Nobel committee not awarding him the peace prize leaves ‘indelible stain’ on Norway

President Donald Trump lamented the Norwegian Nobel Committee choosing not to award him with its annual peace prize on Friday, telling rallygoers the decision leaves “an indelible stain on the country of Norway.”

Speaking at a rally to boost New York Republicans in Syracuse, Trump listed off all of the accomplishments in office he believes have earned him the right to win the Nobel Peace Prize, including efforts to end or prevent conflicts in Africa and Asia and for having “saved more lives than anyone in history.”

~snip~

“And this is an indelible stain on the country of Norway and those people that made such a disgraceful and embarrassing decision,” Trump continued. “The Nobel Peace Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of radical ideologues who are antidemocracy and really enemies of civilization, and we will not forget Norway. That you didn’t give this prize with the greatest record in history.”

The president added that he should have received eight Nobel Peace Prizes for his efforts because he claimed to have ended eight ongoing conflicts.

On Friday, President Donald Trump denounced the Norwegian Nobel Committee’s decision to award the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize to Navi Pillay, calling it a “disgraceful and embarrassing decision” that left an “indelible stain” on Norway during a Syracuse rally.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded Pillay the prize for being “instrumental in ensuring war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide are prosecuted.” President Trump has long coveted the accolade, repeatedly pressuring the committee to select him.

Dismissing Pillay as a “mystery person,” Trump criticized the global body she led until 2025. Her tenure included overseeing a report concluding Israel committed genocide in Gaza, findings that remain politically charged within the administration.

The United States also imposed sanctions on the International Criminal Court on Friday, escalating disputes over international accountability. This move coincides with the administration’s broader effort to challenge legal frameworks globally.

Defending its selection, the Norwegian Nobel Committee stated: “We see a shift towards power politics at the expense of legal frameworks.” This reflects a deepening divide between the administration and global institutions over the rule of law.

The Nobel committee has bastardized themselves with their laughable Peace and Economics prizes. It’s only a matter of time before they do it in Physics with some inane reasoning about a ‘Climate Change’ research paper.

Trump's 100% correct.

Navi Pillay and the Nobel Committee just proved it's 100% anti-Israel by any means necessary, and defunding the ICC was but a small step towards something larger that really needs to happen:

Defund the Useless Nations, kick every single "diplomat" (except our proven allies) out of the country.

Escort them all to the river and tell them to swim for home. Don't let a single one of them come back to our shore, let them all drown.

Done.

I wouldn’t want an award that was given to Arafat and Obama.

President Trump, consider it a badge of honor not to have won the Nobel Peace Prize.

President Trump is right.

If I where him, I wouldn’t want to be bestowed with a discredited price.

The Nobel Peace Prize has been destroyed by it’s radical Left committee.

It’s made itself irrelevant by awarding the Noble Peace Prize to some very horrific people.

People used to wait with eager anticipation to find out who the years winner would be but after giving the Noble to guys like Arafat an Obama nobody really cares anymore

I wish that I had the opportunity to tell President Trump to stop wasting his time trying to get recognition from the political left, domestic or international.
These brainwashed idiots hand out awards, prizes, grants, diplomas and honorary degrees like candy at a carnival, but only if you pass muster, which for them means buying into their entire agenda 100%, no matter how much it defies common sense.

I believe the very best thing that Trump could do would be to do to these clowns the same as what he did to the legacy media; discredit them continuously until nobody has any respect for them.
Destroy their credibility, and be just as relentless.
DJT has almost single handedly destroyed the media.
Their numbers are so low that nobody listens or watches anymore.
Everybody I know now refers to them as ‘fake news’.
They are reduced to preaching to the choir.
It would have the added benefit of reducing the value of awards already given to people like our communist president, the half-white Obama.

I’m juat so glad we finally have a president whose priorities are in the right place. He’s just always thinking about the forgotten men and women of this country-—never a thought for his own self-interest or glory

I doubt trump is very worried over this. They ruined the Prize when they awarded to Obama and he did nothing to deserve it. It was a way to slap us citizens and our country in the face.

I support the attack on Iran, but you can’t reasonably be expected to be awarded an international peace prize after ordering it.

They’re supposed to give him a Peace Prize WHILE he’s bombing Iran?! He really should think once in a while.

“I wouldn’t want an award that was given to Arafat and Obama.”

Not being awarded a prize here can also be a recognition. Trump falls into the presence of people like:

Mahatma Gandhi: Nominated five times between 1937 and 1948, Gandhi was never awarded the prize. He was on the shortlist in 1948, but was assassinated just days before nominations closed. Because the Nobel Foundation rules at the time did not allow posthumous awards (and there was no suitable living candidate), the committee made no award that year. The Norwegian Nobel Committee later called this the greatest omission in its history.

Eleanor Roosevelt: Despite extensive advocacy from figures like Harry Truman, the former First Lady and driving force behind the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was not awarded the prize before or after her death in 1962, largely due to rigid rules against posthumous honors.

Jonas Salk: The developer of the first successful polio vaccine saved millions of children worldwide from paralysis and death, but academic politics and committee rivalries kept him from winning a Nobel Prize.

Lise Meitner: Often called the “mother of the atom bomb” for her foundational work on nuclear fission, Meitner was nominated 48 times by prominent scientists like Max Planck and Niels Bohr, yet never received a Nobel Prize.

José Figueres Ferrer (Costa Rica, 1906-1990) - Abolished the military in Costa Rica and turned the country into a model of peaceful democracy.

Rosalind Franklin (UK, 1920-1958) - Her X-ray crystallography work was critical to discovering the DNA double helix. She died in 1958, four years before Crick, Watson, and Wilkins received the 1962 Nobel. Because Nobels are not awarded posthumously, she was excluded.

It looks like a big honor not to be recognized.
