The vice president’s comments mark the first time a top Trump official has signaled some unease with the Pentagon’s decision to make the Fort Hood execution public.
Vice President JD Vance said Friday he would not watch the planned live-streamed execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan and expressed skepticism over whether it will be broadcast.
On Thursday, the Pentagon said Hasan’s execution by firing squad would be live-streamed for the public to watch. It would be the first time the U.S. military broadcasts an execution live on the internet. Hasan’s execution is scheduled for Dec. 3.
Vance, a Catholic who previously has said he supports the death penalty, was asked by reporters aboard Air Force Two how he reconciled his faith with the Pentagon’s decision to live-stream the killing. He underscored that Hasan “brutally murdered” innocent people but added, “If it’s ultimately live-streamed, I’m not going to be watching it.”
The vice president also expressed skepticism that the live stream would take place.
“I don’t know that that’s actually going to happen,” Vance said. “Let’s sort of see.”
Vance’s comments mark the first time a top Trump official has signaled some unease with the Pentagon’s decision to make the execution public.
Earlier Friday, Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr said he would defer to the Pentagon over whether to potentially broadcast the execution on television networks.
Carr said on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that the potential live stream falls outside the FCC’s regulatory power. The Pentagon has not indicated that the execution will be broadcast on television, and major networks have not said they plan to carry the feed. But broadcasters could still pick up the live feed if no restrictions are set.

Correct answer: “That decision is under the authority of the Department of War and its Secretary. Whether I would watch or not is a personal choice.”
How many streaming platforms do we all think will run it live? They’ll all denounce it someway, shape or form. But they didn’t and don’t have a problem continuously airing Charlie’s execution.
I respect his answer. So long as he (Vance) does nothing to impede this course of action and justice.
His Boss is making this choice, and it will be the prerogative of any future president to do the same.
Record this for days when you feel depressed.
I respect his choice not to watch it. I just don’t understand why he would say he’s skeptical that it wll be streamed after the Pentagon already confirmed that it will be and even set a date.
That he would or wouldn’t watch should be a matter of whether or not it’s worth his time. If it is a matter of whether or not he finds it distasteful, well... life and death decisions as a matter of law enforcement or foreign policy come with that territory.
Andree was hanged in Public. Washington would not pardon him and he was hung on Washington’s orders.
I will watch Im counting the days til its on I cant wait!
Andre was hanged in Public. He wrote a letter to Washington asking to be killed by a firing squad. Washington denied his request.
My only problem is that I’m low on popcorn!
Will there be a pre-game show?
not like the little school kids who are forced to deal with trannies.
I’m leaning more and more toward a Rubio / DeSantis ticket.
I’m watching, recording and will replay on a loop for a few weeks.
pay-per-view
Which station will televise it?? They’re always looking for a good story...
Pussy
Big mistake to air it. His last words will probably be to praise Allah and call on all Muslims to declare war on Jews and Christians.
I’m leaning more and more toward a Rubio / DeSantis ticket.
Cannot happen. Both are from Florida. I think Sean Duffy would be a great VP pick.
