Ethiopia and Eritrea each accused the other of starting a war of aggression on Friday as an internal Ethiopian conflict threatened to escalate into a regional war.
Ethiopia accuses Eritrea of backing rebels in its northern Tigray state, who launched attacks against federal forces last month.
The two countries severed diplomatic relations, and over the past week, Eritrean troops have been seen in northern Tigray with Ethiopia launching drone strikes against their forces.
A foreign security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP they estimated 5,000 to 8,000 Eritrean soldiers were present in Tigray.
Eritrea's conduct is "a blatant act of aggression that engages Ethiopia's inherent right to self-defence", Ethiopian Foreign Minister Gedion Timothewos wrote in a letter to diplomats.

The Commies attack again. What a surprise.
Which side is Islamic?
Whatever the cause or result of the conflict, expect Democrats and the CIA to bring a million “refugees” from this place to America’s cities.
Really the two groups (commies and mohammedans) have a great deal in common so it should not surprise anyone that they are in bed together.
Eritrea has a Muslim majority but a large Christian minority. Ethiopia is mostly Christian and is one of the oldest Christian nations.
Eritrea is known as the North Korea of Africa because of its despotic regime.

More likely, which side is Sunni and the other Sharia?
Sunni is the largest denomination of islam, making up 85% or so of muslims (the other groups being Shia, Ibadi and Ahmadiyya).
Sharia is islamic law and is based on the Quran + Hadiths and is more or less common among all the Islamic denominations.
Sunnis are also divided into 4 “schools” : Hanafi, salafi etc.
The Salafi or Wahhabis are fundamentalist who are only Quran +Hadiths+ Sirah. These are the regimes in Saudi Arabia and Qatar as well as Al Qaeda, Islamic state, the Taliban, Hanas, the Muslim brotherhood, boko haram, nearly all terrorist groups and the Fort Hood perpetrator.
Shia are also divided into different denominations: the largest are the 12ers who hold to the 12 imams and are the Ayatollahs and their followers in Iran and Iraq. You also have Zayidus/Houthus, Bohris, Ismailis etc.
The Ibadi are the smallest, only 0.2% of Muslim and concentrated in Oman
