on a recent Friday afternoon, the Democratic candidate for the United States Senate from Kansas took time out from the campaign trail to perform a wedding. Two days later, he baptized a baby on the vast campus of Resurrection, a United Methodist Church he founded and leads.
Not a word of politics was spoken amid the prayers to Jesus and wonder at the mightiness of God. Instead, it was the insistent calls for selfless love and neighborly service echoing through Resurrection’s hallways and chapels that offered a quiet rebuke to the angry battles raging outside the sanctuary.
It may go too far to speak of the miraculous in an election, but it is a source of wonder and some amazement, for Democrats especially, that Kansas’ Senate race has joined the growing list of 2026 contests in which Republicans are vulnerable.
A former Republican himself, Mr. Hamilton embodies a nationwide shift in the allegiances of moderate Republicans toward the Democrats. And like many other candidates in the middle of the country, Mr. Hamilton is trying to balance blunt criticisms of Mr. Trump — on high prices, tariffs, the war in Iran, cuts in health care and nutrition programs and his handling of immigration — with promises of a less partisan, less angry, more cooperative politics on the other side of the Trump experience
He has built the largest Methodist congregation in the United States (24,000 members across nine sites in the Kansas City area and 22 services every Sunday) by preaching a Gospel that combines a thoroughly traditional promise of salvation through Jesus Christ with a call for community engagement and a dedication to those in need. He regularly notes that his congregation is divided roughly equally among Democrats, Republicans and independents.

Kansas voters have already shown that they are willing to give aid and comfort to the domestic and foreign enemies of the United States and Kansas (KS Bill of Rights Sec. 13) by electing a Demonicrat as governor.
Why expect Kansas voters to stop there and not drag their state down into the leftist sewer?!?
FWIW, I’ve been seeing tons of Roger Marshall signs everywhere around the Wichita area, but only two Adam Hamilton signs. However, Johnson County (near KC) is where Democrats in this state are highly concentrated.

One should create a separate folder for these articles. Wait a week after the election after they’ve been proven wrong. Email them back the article with the line: “Your article was total bullshit”.
His Church will not survive if he is elected.
Megachurches fail when the founders leave. And, his unequivocal support for Abortion and the Church sex scandal could take it down anyway.

United Methodists? I don’t know anything about them. From what I’m reading, they appear to be another messed up collective. Thanks to knowledgeable posters.
A family member of mine was high up in Hamilton’s church for years. His dad had been a Methodist minister. He grew up as a pastor’s son and took it very seriously. He attended divinity school then took a job with Hamilton’s church.
A couple of years ago, he left the church stating that he did not recognize Hamilton or his teachings anymore.
It never fails- every time I choose to read an article from the NYT in here, It cycles my gag reflex.
So, the yellow rag thinks Kansas could go back to the party that brought them “Bleeding Kansas”?

What’s made this an even vaguely competitive race is the story about Marshall suing 700 patients, almost all new mothers, when he was a practicing doctor, some for as little as $50 or $200. It led to some women who’d just given birth going to jail. Was it legal? Sure. but it doesn’t look good.
