President Donald Trump signaled he’s in no hurry to make a deal with Iran and rejected Tehran’s latest proposal, as the U.S. military facilitates the transit of more oil through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Islamic Republic had reportedly offered a seven-day ceasefire, during which it would fully reopen the strait and resume nuclear talks. In return, the U.S. would lift its naval blockade, unfreeze Iranian assets, and end sanctions on its oil exports.
“They want to make a deal and I think that’s fine,” Trump told reporters outside the White House on Saturday, saying Iran is “losing so badly.” “I’d like to make a deal, too. But that deal would not be acceptable.”
In addition, he has privately told aides that he expects to resume bombing Iran after the midterm elections when high gas prices will be less of a political consideration, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Such bravado comes as U.S. officials believe time is now on their side and no longer on Iran’s side. The U.S. naval blockade is crushing Iran’s economy, and new financial sanctions are tightening the screws even more. At the same time, oil markets have been much more resilient than expected.
While crude prices remain high, with refined fuels facing a bigger shock, markets have yet to see catastrophic extremes, even as the Iran war and the strait’s closure approach their eighth month.
That’s because the strait is only partially closed with more oil getting out in recent weeks under the protection of the U.S. military.
On Wednesday, Tanker Trackers estimated that the total amount of crude oil exiting the U.S. blockade line is now 13 million barrels per day.
“The numbers have doubled in less than a month,” it said in a post on X.

I got a ton of really nasty comments on X when I said Trump is helping the farmers. If these prices don’t come down we could be looking at 2 years of misery brought to us by the nastiest people in the country...a rat congress..
The RINOS ought to be run out of town - I read today that GW Bush is NOT helping Paxton...he’s diverting $ from his campaign. And then there’s the rest of them - I don’t know who is worse - RINOS or RATS.
The problem with Iran can be described in two words : TRUSTWORTHINESS and AUTHORITY.
TRUSTWORTHINESS: Pezkhetian’s latest proposal is no different from the past — do this and that and we PROMISE to do what you demand . The problem is they haven’t shown any record of keeping any of their promises. The impression they give is they just want to kick the can further down the road.
Hence Trump’s demand — NO, you do what we demand and only when we see it fulfilled will we do what you want.
AUTHORITY: Even if Pezkhetian agrees to Trump’s demand it does NOT look like he has the authority to implement it. He’s a PINO ( President in Name Only ). All of his promises will be overridden by the REAL POWER in Iran — the one who controls the weapons— The IRGC.
So given this, the only unfortunate solution is to destroy the IRGC by force. There’s NO CHOICE if we are going to break this unending cycle of useless negotiations.
Since it will be US blood and treasure ensuring safe passage for the oil, does the US get some of our costs back for this level of protection?

$23.59 per barrel in just shipping costs is a big inflation driver.
At some point probably 3 months or so ago I remember one of the TV paid retired military analysts say he thought two things were bad strategies: a takeover of Kharg Island and escorting vessels through the Strait of Hormuz which would put our military at risk in a gauntlet of enemy small missile attacks.
We seem to be giving a try to the second one. May God protect our armed forces.

No sir, they don’t. They want to return to exactly what they had when Biden left office with the ability to expand on all phases of it. They want their funds back, they want to bargain their way into advanced nuclear capacity when they were already enriching just short of weapons grade (and would have within 2 weeks the US and Israel had not stopped them), they want control with Oman of the straits, they want to stall until after the mid term hoping they can get liberals in power to expand their position, they want to continue firing on ships and other countries to include US citizens, and they want to develope their hyperbolistic missile so they can hit almost any area on the planet with nuclear weapons, the Khorramshahr-5, which has a 12,000 kilometers (approx. 7,450 miles), which puts the continental United States and all of Europe within reach carrying a two ton nuclear device at a minimum of mach 15. So is this a offer? Yes but not for anything we want. Worth the gamble...not likely.

Gas jumped from $3.89 Thursday morning to $4.18 in an hour, and today it’s $2.99! I can only guess that the people who set oil prices knew it was going down, so they gouged us one more time.
This is “Trust us ‘bro” propaganda to keep oil futures from going parabolic. The last confirmed transit of U.S. Navy warships through the Strait of Hormuz was May 7th, 2026- with the USS Truxtun, USS Rafael Peralta and USS Mason.
No US military vessel is escorting anything through the strait since those vessels squeezed through. The Bush carrier group wouldn’t even chance the Red Sea but travelled around Africa to get to the Gulf of Aden, well clear of drones and missiles. Someone post a picture of a US naval vessel safely escorting a gulf state tanker through the strait! Lots of pics of burning takers though.
even when there was a cease fire the cronies were doing everything possible to make the price still high so you wouldnt even notice there was a cease fire..but during the Biden regime, they did everything in their power to kiss his ass and lower it as much as possible to help him

The refined products’ shortfall, especially diesel fuel, is more of a problem than the oil supply shortage itself. Is the increased volume through the Strait / blockade line only crude, or does it include refined products?
The Ukies are not going to stop hitting Russian refineries unless Russia stops hitting Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and Russia is as at this point unlikely to relent: It still thinks the tactics it has used in the past, such as in Chechnya, to reduce it’s enemies to rubble, will work in Ukraine. (Chechnya was small and poor, had very little outside support, and had no ways to significantlyly hit back at Russia.)
I would note that Russia destroyed Ukraine’s refineries early in the war, so Ukraine relies on a dispersed network bringing in fuels from NATO countries. Russia can try to hit the fuel transport, but the transport is increasingly dispersed, so taking most of it out is an expensive proposition. Instead Russia primarily goes after Ukraine’s power plants in attempt to freeze out the population: Initiating such action on a general basis is a clear war crime (read the present day Geneva Conventions), but Russia doesn’t G.A.F. about such things, if it is them doing it.
Conversely, the Ukies look at the US, which has a fuel surplus (over domestic consumption), and don’t give a crap if our fuel prices are high.

If that site relies on transponder data then it’s not seeing the ones that are being escorted through. The tankers turn off their transponders when they do that.

US gets free access anywhere, anytime, without notice for inspections....
Require we get ALL their oil production at a steeply reduced cost to parse out as we see fit.
We get a discount in perpetuity.
Tell Europe AHEAD of time if they want a seat at the table, start surging their pathetic military to support us under our orders.
Establish a 100% land, sea, and air blockade ( we starved Germans and Japs.....hell we starved Dutch and Danes and Channel Island Brits.....lift that at the time they accept terms....all shipments in and out come via US flagged vessels, aircraft, US escorted/inspected trucks.
Bomb them back to stone age with cheap iron gravity bombs, transportation, irrigation, damns, power, etc.
Remind them we have NEVER forsworn the first use of nukes.

The biggest part of the diesel price right now is russia importing refined oil products since July because Ukraine damaged, and continues to danage their oil refineries. Russia used to export.
