Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Mehmet Oz said on a podcast Thursday that he wants Sen. John Fetterman (D), his rival in Pennsylvania’s 2022 Senate race, to cross the aisle and join the Republican Party.
Oz’s comments come a day after Fetterman’s surprise video appearance at the Republican National Committee’s midterm convention in Dallas.
“I want everyone in the party. God works in mysterious ways, but they’re brilliant and loving ways and I’m very happy for that,” Oz said on Harry Cole’s podcast, “Harry Cole Saves the West.”
“Would you like to see him come over to Republican?” Cole asked of Fetterman.
“Of course. We need as many people as are willing to be brave and push back on an orthodoxy or a rhetoric that doesn’t actually describe reality,” Oz responded.
Oz lost to Fetterman by 5 points, even as the Democrat suffered a stroke in the middle of the campaign.
Fetterman on Wednesday appeared in a video praising fellow Pennsylvania Sen. Dave McCormick (R) at the midterm convention, which stirred up anger among some Democrats.
“Why am I here talking to you today?” Fetterman said in the video. “Because, well, I’m a commonsense Democrat.”

More likely an Independent who still votes most of the time with the RATs.
He’s more useful where he is. If he changed parties he could no longer hold a mirror up to the demoncrats.
No.
He still votes Dem.
What makes it news-Oz said it?
Fetterman would make Murkowski and Collins look like rock-ribbed MAGA. He’s a Clinton Democrat - not as crazy as Mamdani and AOC, but still very much a creature of the Left.
We don’t need another socially liberal Senator. No thanks.
No thanks, we have too many RINOs as it is. This is exactly why the turnout is so low as countless voters have a choice between worse and worser, they just stay home.
Agreed. If he were a Republican he’d be Murkowski.
If he switched to make it 51-50 for the Repukes I’d be fine with it. The. You can throw him out in a primary.
Ah, that's the wunnerfulness of the secret ballot.
I wouldn't DREAM of not voting. :)
.
so is OZ ...
The only way this is good would be if he gave us the majority and there is no way he would do that. Especially with his hard core Dem wife holding him hostage.
