Why would anybody vote for a person tied in with Gavin Newsom and Kamala Harris and Nancy Pelosi and that whole tradition of Bay Area politicians who've taken control of the state from the LA center of power of the 1970s and '80s, when they gave us a huge government fraud program, devastating wildfires, the highest electricity rates and income tax?

For the same reason Auto-Depends won the presidency.
They think it is getting better. So they want more of it.
VDH needs to do a long examination of the reporting that comes out of California state/local news coverage.
The people of California have no idea what is going on. Their journalists lie to them. Their journalists tell them its a brand new day. Sun shining. Birds chirping. So now go vote Democrat.
And they vote Democrat. That’s why. It’s the media. The people are clueless.
VDH has a point, but it assumes California actually wants to improve. It does not. It just wants to monopolize power. Even FDR discovered that prolonging the Great Depression was useful in monopolizing power.
It’s the D after the politician’s name.
For half the voting public, that letter is pure magic.
It sparkles and it shines.
For younger Democrat voters, the D means more free stuff.
For older Democrat voters, the D means it’s the party of working people.
The younger voters are correct.
The older voters are very mistaken. It’s not 1950 any more.
Even with the large welfare and foreign-born population, I am still suspicious California actually “votes for” its present leaders
California allows every method of insecure, potentially fraudulent voting known
mass mail in ballots
3rd person ballot harvesting/collection
automatic voter registration with drivers license or any state service
early voting
multi-week counting
uncleaned voter rolls
In a one-party state government like California’s, they will always get the result which benefits the party running the state.
It’s simple. Blame it on Trump. People are that dumb.
Because Republicans want to starve woman and children? Duh!
Because that is what people do in Commiefornia, they like the stench, they like the filth, they like going on hobo poop and they dont care when their house gets burglarized. Besides, you have LA County, which has the largest illegal alien population, they vote, they get welfare, food stamps, you name it, they get it, so of course they will vote for the party that continues the freebies
Clearly, the logic is: If they broke it, they’ll just keep sending them back until they fix it. That’ll larn ‘em.
There is an educated comparatively affluent segment that sees voting Republican as beneath them. What would their friends think??
I read an article a few years ago written by a San Francisco writer and she discussed the problems there and in the end what it boiled down to was she’d rather see a naked drug addict laying in the street eating cardboard than vote Republican. I kid you not.

Yep. I know a woman just like that. She’s educated, has a good job, and makes good money. But praise a Republican politician even indirectly, and she completely loses it. The Republican politician is evil. And you are a hopeless dunce for admiring him.

Californians vote for the kind of people who made California worse even after they leave California.
There’s often some kind of a gimmick. Californians will think Becerra isn’t like Pelosi or Newsom or Harris because he’s a Latino.
Just drive through East San Jose.
You’ll understand within a minute or two.
