‘Frankly, He Has Been Killed’: Angry Scholars From UK’s Top Academics’ Union Blame Jason Arday’s Death on Racist Mob...
Washington Free Beacon ^ | 21/8/26 | Eliana Johnson

In the wake of accused plagiarist and serial fabulist Jason Arday’s death, an influential band of activists within Great Britain’s largest academic union is demanding action—not to change the policies at Cambridge that led the school to hire and defend Arday, but to “shield other black academics from scrutiny from what they view as a racist, right-wing conspiracy,” the investigative journalist Ben Ryan writes for the Free Beacon.

An activist caucus within the University and College Union held a virtual organizing meeting Tuesday night to discuss Arday’s death. “The Free Beacon obtained a recording of the raw and emotional gathering of several dozen members, during which the angry scholars repeatedly denounced the attacks on Arday as the product of a racist, right-wing mob seeking to drive blacks out of the academy,” Ryan writes. “The central purposes of the meeting were to draft a public statement on the Arday tragedy and develop a toolkit to help the union respond if black academics are targeted with attacks on their credibility.”

Leading academics like David Sanders of Purdue University agreed that Arday’s thesis was “extensively plagiarized,” while a damning investigation in The Times of London found that Arday stole another academic’s research, manipulated his own methodology, and recycled his own quotes from interview subjects. But the UCU members who attended Tuesday’s meeting downplayed Arday’s misdeeds, insisting that “lifting text verbatim from another scholar’s work and using it without attribution did not itself constitute plagiarism. They said that the stealing of someone else’s ideas was required to merit such a charge—a narrow definition contradicted by their own universities.” The meeting’s organizer, University College London principal research fellow Sean Wallis, went so far as to suggest that Galileo was a plagiarist by today’s standards....

Arday had much in common with George Floyd.

“an influential band of activists”

i.e., the unemployed who contribute nothing positive to society.

Maybe this time it would be best just to let Europe go ahead and commit suicide. It's been suicidal for centuries.

Americans have jerked Europe back from the brink time after time, at enormous cost.

Will Americans send their sons to die on European soil yet again to save Europe from its most recent wave of suicidal madness? Probably not.

Maybe it's time to let 'em go ahead and destroy themselves.

Sooner or later we're going to have to let them.

The people who killed the guy are those who accepted his fraud and praised him for it without checking. Because they expect that of course, no black person could ever really rise up to their level on merit. They are racism personified, but don’t recognize it in themselves.

Well, at least they didn’t blame it on Climate Change.

On a more serious note, Cambridge University deserves a huge portion of the blame here. They didn’t bother to vet the guy. So Arday was set up to fail. It had to happen.

Sort of like entering a chess novice into a tournament for DEI reasons alone.

You can be an institution of learning or an institution of self-esteem. But not both at the same time. The trustees of Cambridge made their choice decades ago.

Oh, they knew he was a fraud. But they needed their token Didn't Earn It (DEI) hire to further their racist agenda.

They've got blood on their hands, and all their denials and blaming others doesn't change that.

Exactly. Their praise was the “rope” (as it were).

Maybe the best solution would be to gather all the Woke “scholars” in one college and let them do their thing. Students who want to partake in their wisdom can do it at the full tuition rate. No discounts allowed.

You could call the place “Romper Room”. Degress granted through the Romper Room College would distinct from all others given out by the university by being written in crayon.

Just my 2 cents.

It was 'guilty' white liberals who caused his death falling for what they wanted to believe and to shove on others those false beliefs. The ugliness involved in pretending their delusions were real caused this mess. I would feel sorry for the idiots at Cambridge but my hatred of their types doesn't allow that.

Yep. Jason Arday was a post turtle. While he brought about his own fall, the idiots who put him up there in the first place are not without blame.

RE: You can be an institution of learning or an institution of self-esteem. But not both at the same time.

Amazing but true——
California created the Task Force to Promote Self-Esteem and Personal and Social Responsibility through legislation (AB 3659) signed into law in 1986.

A bipartisan commission of 25 members, operating from 1987 to 1990, to investigate the role of self-esteem in addressing major social issues.

“It examined how self-esteem influenced problems such as crime and violence, academic failure, substance abuse, poverty, welfare dependency, and workplace behavior.”

“It defined self-esteem as involving a sense of belonging, likeability, significance, and acknowledgment of hard work.”
Quotes from Zocalo Public Square.

Black academics should be subject to the same scrutiny and standards as whites.
