The uses of violence (Dem lawmaker changed Israel aid vote)

The combination of anti-Semitism and violence on the left deamands attention. It is a toxic brew. Democrat Washington Rep. Adam Smith provides a recent example in connection with his vote against aid to Israel this week. Matthew Shea reports at Jewish Insider (links in original):

Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA), the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, indicated he voted to cut off military aid to Israel in part because of sustained personal threats against his family and his staff, part of what he described as a violent and relentless campaign of intimidation by far-left anti-Israel activists.

Smith voted on Wednesday to support an amendment introduced by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) to strip $3.3 billion in U.S. aid to Israel from the 2027 State Department appropriations bill — a major reversal by the hawkish Democrat after he previously told Jewish Insider he planned to oppose the measure.

In a statement explaining his vote in favor, the high-ranking defense lawmaker said it was a “very close vote.” He said that despite voting to cut off U.S. aid, he was “deeply concerned” about the tactics used by far left activists to pressure him to support such a measure.

“To date, my family and I have had our home vandalized, a fire has been set in my driveway, my neighbors’ lives have been disrupted by demonstrations in the middle of the night, town halls meant to be forums for dialogue have been shut down, and a staff member has been physically assaulted,” Smith said in a statement on X.

The story gives no hint of perpetrators or law enforcement activity. There must be more to come on this sorry, sorry episode.

Is law enforcement on this? Do they not have some cameras installed at their home?

What's happening to Congressman Smith appears organized. I don't think any Republican office holders have even been subjected to organized, ongoing harassment.

Once you have paid him the Danegeld,
You never get rid of the Dane.
For fear they should succumb and go astray;
You will find it better policy to say:
No matter how trifling the cost;
And the nation that pays it is lost!

Thanks, Rep. Smith, for proving that violence and intimidation are viable political strategies, you coward. You should have just resigned instead of voting against your conscience because you lack political and physical courage.

FYI-—Mandatory Bible reading for Texas school students has Jewish leaders warning the move risks fueling anti-Semitism and eroding the “Jewish version of religious freedom” since it affects their own heightened political standing.

Jews are an infinitesimal 0.72% of the Texas population. and nationally are considered so insignificant, they are too few to poll by standard means.

The Republican Texas state board of education voted to approve mandated Bible study in the school curriculum for “more than five million students.”

A Christian spokesman declared: “We’re going to stop watering down American history. We’re going to teach the truth. Our nation was founded as a Christian nation, and Texas is a Christian state.” The changes will take effect in 2030, are the latest step in Texas’s drive to bring Christian religion back into the classroom.

THE JEWISH RANT: fierce opposition from Jewish leaders is rife, as Jews argue Bible reading is “unconstitutional” and will fuel a rapid rise in anti-Semitism.

To Jews, anti-Semitism is about making Jews feel “alienated and isolated,” pushing Jews out of public spaces and making Jews feel their religion is a lesser religion because it rejects Jesus Christ.

Jews say Bible studies might encourage pupils to reinterpret the “Jews use of the Holocaust” by which Jews gain increased political favors. Bible studies could lessen Jews political standing by significantly contributing to anti-Semitism wrt “misunderstanding” the Holocaust.

Jews vigorously oppose presenting Christianity as the default religion since it affects Jewish political standing.

However, the White House has thrown its weight behind the measure. Pres Trump declared: “Religion is back in our country, bigger and stronger than it has been in many, many years.”

The Bible reading motion passed by a 9-4 vote after nearly 500 people testified before the Texas board. Texas citizens have long lamented the ‘death’ of religious freedom.

Texas, which has around 5.5 million Christian public-school students, and less than 25,000 Jewish students, has led efforts to reshape education and has become a testing ground for Trump’s pledge to expand religious expression in schools nationwide. “This is just the beginning, Texas accomplished something big.”

You continually make things up.

Also that has absolutely nothing to do with this thread’s topic. If a thread has something to do with Israel you talk about Jews. If a thread relates to an individual who is Jewish, you bring up Israel, AIPAC etc., even if the thread’s not about Israel.

You’re unhinged and low IQ.

JEWISH ANIMOSITY TO CHRISTIANITY: fierce Jewish opposition to Christianity is rampant, as self-serving Jews routed Christianity from schools b/c, to them, it is “unconstitutional” and fuels anti-Semitism.

To Jews, anti-Semitism is about making Jews feel “alienated and isolated,” pushing Jews out of public spaces and making Jews feel their religion is a lesser religion because Judaism rejects Jesus Christ.

Jews say Christian studies encourages pupils to reinterpret the “Jews use of the Holocaust” by which Jews gain increased political favors. It also lessens self-serving Jews political standing by significantly contributing to anti-Semitism wrt Christians “misunderstanding” the Holocaust.

Jews vigorously oppose presenting Christianity as the default religion since it affects Jewish bona fides.

“So, did he cave?”

Yes he did. Every profession someone goes into has a certain amount of danger to it. I worked in a field for half my life that was filled with it as a military and government military “employee.” The life of an elected official is filled with decisions that sometimes aren’t popular. But his affiliation to the party that has used intimidation through the press to accomplish their agenda for so many years sometimes puts their foot soldiers into the cross fire. He knew the job was like this when he took it. He wasn’t forced, he decided himself. So, he needs to understand that he may have to pay for his decisions if they aren’t popular.

This was best said by serial killer Richard Ramirez saying, “Big deal, death comes with the territory”. Smith buttered his bread... Welcome to the real world.
