A grooming gang ringleader who was convicted of 30 child rapes reportedly cannot be deported - despite being stripped of his British citizenship. A clause protects Commonwealth citizens who arrived in the UK before 1973 from removal.

Instead, he will be allowed to live in the community under a number of curfews and exclusion zones. Ahmed was jailed in 2012 for concurrent sentences of 22 and 19 years. He was one of nine men convicted of sexual offences against multiple children, who they groomed at two takeaway restaurants in Rochdale. Prosecutors identified Ahmed as one of the ringleaders.

After 14 years behind bars, he is due to be released on July 2 this year, his victims have been told in an email.

A court heard that Ahmed had abused one girl for more than a decade, using her as a 'possession' for sexual gratification.

Why even have deportation, if this doesn't qualify? So, anyone who arrived in the U.K. before 1973 can commit any crime they want?

Also, why was 14 years enough.

And how did he ever get convicted? I thought the government almost never prosecuted these cases?

In Olde England not so long ago, this WOG would have been hanged nearly unto death. Then he would be disemboweled and his severed genitals and still attached intestines burned in a brazier fire before his eyes and the attending crowds. Afterwards, his body would have been quartered and the various portions sent to parts of the realm as an example to others.

Nowadays, they simply release the offending WOG with a nice welfare pension, wish him well, and send him on to his daily Muslim prayers.
