DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Iran again launched drone and missile attacks targeting Bahrain and Kuwait on Sunday following new U.S. airstrikes against the Islamic Republic and threatened a “complete halt” in negotiations to end the war if Washington continues its attacks.
Efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz without Iran's oversight have sparked days of crossfire. A multinational maritime body overseen by the U.S. Navy said Saturday it would expand a route near Oman for inbound and outbound traffic, setting up a new flashpoint with Tehran.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated the claim Sunday that Tehran alone must govern the strait, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf that once carried a fifth of the world’s oil and natural gas.
“Any attempt to establish new or separate arrangements from those currently being carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran will only lead to further complications, delay the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and increase the level of tension,” Araghchi said.

Obviously, Iran’s goal is to make Trump appear weak so the Democrats will win the midterms which will lead to a better deal for Iran.
You will notice the scum at AP frames this like we broke the cease fire with the peace loving Iranians.
It seems to be letting the Iranian regime hang themselves.
They are playing him. They have lost their fear of him. He needs to do something to re-instill a healthy fear so they can get back to real negotiations.

Willing limited ends doesn't imply needing only limited means. And like almost all US post-WWII military action, US leadership always seems to underestimate the means needed and so fails to accomplish the ends.
We would be hammering a Dem admin for asking US forces to fight with an arm tied behind their backs, but that appears to be exactly what Trump is doing.
Trump has certainly maneuvered the U.S. into a position that demands full military assault against Iran both by air and ground. Which was likely what he was urged to do along.
It was never meant to be a quick get in and out conflict but a full scale war to assure U.S. dominance in the MidEast.
Trump and allies should set up a program where the Strait must remain open and the cost of ANY AND ALL damages inflicted upon shipping by Iran will be 100% covered by IRANIAN IMPOUNDED FUNDS. This would stiffen the spines of the shipping insurers and reinsurers. And IRANIANS UNDERSTAND MONEY, do not want to lose it and will punish (i.e., kill) those who cause the loss. THE ATTACKS ON SHIPPING WILL END.
I’m posting this in every thread where the absence of such MONETARY DAMAGES ASSESSMENT is partially responsible for the situation.

There’s not much more Trump can do. Conventional bombing alone will not dislodge a radical regime. It might even cause a rally ‘round the flag effect in Iran.
As I see it, the best Trump can hope for is spontaneous popular revolution in Iran. Until then, flatten any nuclear site that Iran happens to rebuild.

They are all on the same side as terrorists——Iran, Hamas, the Houthis and Hezbollah.
No he's not, he HAS to in order to get past the mid-terms. Two reasons: The domestic price of fuels, and the impact on the world's economy if Europe "tanks" for the same reason. Meanwhile the Gulf States are working feverishly to build alternative delivery to the Mediterranean instead of the Gulf. The mullahs' intentions are obvious. They need cash.
To believe Trump doesn't understand all that and the mullah's intentions paints you as a bigger fool than I think you are. Get with the big picture outside the direct conflict and it all becomes much easier to see.
