Colorado is currently in a drought. There is just simply not enough water to go around for everyone. The low income Latino neighborhoods are protesting the most against the data centers. Appears to be some sort of community activist action. We don’t want jobs. Give us our gov. Benefits. We are woke. Can’t afford to pay an extra 5$ per month for water. We don’t want economics.
Things are looking up for Texas. They have a lot of natural gas they can use to fuel generation localized to data centers, delivering dedicated power that does not move across the grid. A lot of states will be mired in anti-AI activism and layers of witless regulation, and Texas will be laughing all the way to the bank.
