Obama Presidential Center follows widely mocked ‘stolen land’ acknowledgment with Native American dance show

After officials kicked off the opening weekend of the Barack Obama Presidential Center with a widely mocked “land acknowledgment” — a nod to the political far left that believes the United States was built on “stolen land” — a traditional Native American dance show was featured during Saturday’s scheduled events.

The Black Hawk Performance Company is a Native American dance troupe based in the Chicago area, composed of dancers from several Indigenous tribes.

Saturday marked the third day of the Obama Presidential Center’s grand opening, which featured musical and cultural performances ranging from international superstars like John Legend to local drum lines.

The lively Native American display, held in John Lewis Plaza on the center’s campus, featured a drum circle, several traditional dances and songs, including one honoring a Native American flag. The performance lasted about an hour and, toward the end, included many of the hundreds of people who watched in the plaza.

But Thursday night, the opening ceremony for the center began with an awkward admission that the center itself rests on land that rightfully belongs to Native Americans.

Conservative commentator Glenn Beck unleashed on the hypocrisy.

“The sheer arrogance of the Obama Foundation using the $850 million Obama Presidential Center to lecture us about standing on ‘stolen land’ is HILARIOUS,” he said. “They’re basically saying, ‘Yeah, we acknowledge we stole this land. IT’S SO WRONG. But the gift shop is to your left, and tickets are 30 bucks.’ If they genuinely believe they’re holding stolen property, they should either GIVE IT BACK or shut the hell up.”

I’m so sick of this. I sat at 2 graduations with land acknowledgements, give the land back then.

Don’t worry. Democrats will make it beautiful. Jimmy the 3-card monte dealer will move onto the grounds next week. Graffitti awaits too. Has the skunk smell become permanent yet?

If the Indians are upset about the ‘stolen’ land, I’d give the same advice Texas gave Santa Anna… COME AND TAKE IT.

But reality is probably more of Liberals wanting to pit groups of people against each other and delegitimize our sovereign nation.

The Socialist Democrats NEVER pass up an opportunity to divide all Americans, no matter what the venue or the subject.

Will the Closing Ceremonies of this Dog & Pony Show end up as another ‘Paul Wellstone Memorial?’

*SPIT*

The goal is to divide people from their emotional attachment to private property, making it easier to “decomodify” . You don’t actually own the land thus you cannot complain when the socialists collectively decide proper use, by voting of course.
Expropriate the expropriators
If they stack the SCOTUS with their ideologues.the us constitution (or as Obama calls it: the charter of negative liberties) won’t matter. Don’t be surprised. They’ve planned this all out.

Did they honor Mayor Ed Kelly (a southsider and democrat) who directly oversaw “Obama’s Land,” with other projects such as:

Soldier Field, Museum of Science and Industry

Burnham Park lakefront corridor and Lake Shore Drive segment

Jackson Park, Washington Park, and Midway Plaisance (as part of South Park system governance)

Adler Planetarium site and gift acceptance

Early steps toward a park in Ashburn (later Rainey Park)

Monuments like the “Spirit of Music” on South Park land

As mayor: State Street subway, Midway Airport improvements, major roadway and sewer work, and the birth of the CTA.

Did they honor another S. Side dem family, the Daileys?
