The ongoing controversy surrounding the San Francisco Giants' Pride Night and the four players who protested it has officially reached the Trump administration.
On Thursday, Department of Justice assistant attorney general Harmeet K. Dhillon announced that the department's Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) will be investigating MLB after the league issued warnings to the three players who wrote Bible verses on their Pride Night caps, citing possible religious discrimination.
“The three players expressed their opposition to MLB’s pro-Pride orthodoxy by inscribing Bible verses on their rainbow-colored hats,” Dhillon wrote in a letter to MLB commissioner Rob Manfred. “The Civil Rights Act prohibits MLB and its franchises from unreasonably burdening the rights of players with religious objections to serving as the League’s vehicle for pro-Pride messages.”
Dhillon further posited that MLB may be demonstrating a level of hypocrisy with its warning issued to the players over the Bible verses, citing the league’s prior encouragement of players to wear ‘Black Lives Matter’ patches on their uniforms.
“This double standard–under which players may not inscribe Bible verses on hats for one game only but may wear ‘Black Lives Matter’ patches for one game only – calls MLB’s true motives into question…” Dhillon writes.
Giants pitchers Landen Roupp, Ryan Walker and JT Brubaker protested the team’s annual Pride Night celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, all referencing similar passages from Genesis. The specific words from those passages have been used by conservative leaders in the Christian community to “reclaim” the rainbow’s symbolism from the LGBTQIA+ community. (A fourth pitcher, Sam Hentges, opted to not wear the rainbow-logo hat at all during the game and has not received a warning from MLB.)

I’ll support the players in the upcoming strike. The league is Marxist.
Next time - wear verses from the Koran that condemn faggotry.
Watch heads explode.
This is gonna leave a mark.
The NFL is dancing on thin ice too. Why would any league champion some kind of sexual practice that offends a large portion of the spectating audience?
Because the leagues management teams think a large portion of the spectating audience are dimwits and will consume any crap the leagues hand out. They are not entirely wrong and are being influenced or threatened by the queer mafia.
I didn’t see anything address , about what is baseball’s policy on players deciding to endorese certain points of view, with messages on hats or uniforms.
The players may be in trouble for not having had express permission to do this.
Although I think we all know too, the powers that be are outraged, that anyone would talk about what God and the Bible say about the rainbow.
The rainbow has symbolism beyond homosexuality.
“Because the leagues management teams think a large portion of the spectating audience are dimwits and will consume any crap the leagues hand out. They are not entirely wrong”
They’re not wrong at all. Spectators for the NFL sit/stand for the players disrespecting the Flag/the anthem. After an entire childhood of pledging allegiance to the flag
Bunch of disgusting slimy wimps
“LGBTQIA+” It sure seems like they keep adding letters.
Di you ever get the feeling that these investigations and hearings are all performative? Over 500 days in office and not even one conviction of a major Democrat. Whatever became of “ lock her up” ?
.
Or a cross.
Very simple solution. Take away baseballs anti trust exemption. Ta da.
Sue them for 170% of their profits for the next 17 years.
Time to remove the monopoly professional sports enjoys.
