Trump: Israeli strike on Beirut shouldn’t have happened; none of Lebanon should be struck in future
Times of Israel ^ | 06 14 2026 | Jacob Magid

Posted on 06/14/2026 11:03:08 AM PDT by yesthatjallen

US President Donald Trump knocks Israel for attacking Beirut today and says the IDF should not carry out any more attacks on any part of Lebanon moving forward.

“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a peace deal with Iran,” Trump writes on Truth Social, stopping short of definitively declaring that an memorandum of understanding between the US and Iran will actually be signed today.

“Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured or killed and should not disrupt this important process,” Trump says, suggesting that Israel overreacted by targeting Beirut in response to a Hezbollah attack on northern Israel.

“We are very close to a deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down,” Trump says.

“There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel,” he adds.

The Guardian reports:

"Donald Trump reiterated that a peace deal with Iran was still on track to be signed within hours, despite an Israeli strike on Beirut that he said had delayed the plan, adding that he told Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he has “no fu*king judgement”.

“It shook it up. It delayed the signing by a few hours. It was supposed to be now. Now it is scheduled for a few hours from now,” Trump said in a phone call with Axios.

Trump fumed at Netanyahu over the attack on Beirut, saying, “it is so bad – I couldn’t believe it. An hour before we are supposed to sign the deal.”

Using a string of expletives, Trump told Axios he raged at Netanyahu after Israel struck Beirut’s southern suburbs on Sunday, killing three people, in response to what it said was Hezbollah fire at northern Israel.

“Why did Bibi (Netanyahu) have to do a fucking attack?” Trump told Axios. “I was so pissed off. I let him know. He has no fucking judgement. I let him know that.”"

Good luck with Netanyahu saying “ Anything you say boss.” to that. Nor should he. It’s Israel getting struck, Israelis getting killed and wounded.

Yup. He seems to have hit upon a formula where we strike and once again get a meaningless paper agreement short of victory.

The same seems to be true in Venezuela: he grabs Maduro but leaves the same commie, Chinese aligned scum in charge. They're just waiting for Trump to go away. Ukraine and Russia no longer pay any attention to the US.

The Iranians will just wait until the midterms or the next admin and even more unbelievably Trump expects the Israelis to just get missiles from Hezbollah and sit tight and do nothing.

Trump should decide what the goal is and leave the execution to Hegseth and Rubio and keep his son-in-law and that idiot Witkoff out of it.

I wrote about this before.

It is NOT academic nonsense: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thucydides_Trap

Conflicts often cannot be resolves or get escalated to major wars because of smaller near side bar players that have their own agenda and are enabled by the alliances they have with the bigger powers.

WWI is the classic and perfect example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_of_Archduke_Franz_Ferdinand

Ukraine today is another such example, and it is good that we disengaged the way we did.

Regards Israel: We are allies with Israel, they are the ONLY true republic, the ONLY true nation with a rule of law, the ONLY true democracy, and with a pluralistic and Western liberal (classical meaning) society in that greater region. All (the Anglo, Christian white guilt kids protesting Israel) the idiots spewing their anti-Israeli junk today, if forced to live in that region, would choose Israel as their home.

That said, Israel has their own foreign security interests, their own priorities, their own internal power dynamics, and they can easily derail a peace deal, or cause an alliance with other Arab states to break apart, or cause China to get involved to a greater degree (depending on what they do)... Yes, we are allies, but like a pitbull foaming at the mouth trying to bite as hard as he can anyone in his reach, we need to keep that dog on a short chain.

Good luck with that.

Lip service. Let Israel finish the job. Same with the Houtis. Make Iran feel like Russia-unable to help Cuba or Maduro.

“none of Lebanon should be struck in future”

How about “None of ISRAEL should be struck in future”?

the war against Hizbollah is Israel’s affair. setting up talks between Lebanon and Israel was as far as Israel was willing to go with this comedy. Lebanon can’t and won’t control Hizbollah - we have years of experience on that. this move by Iran -attack no.Israel to provoke Israeli response on “Deal Day”- is an obvious attempt to drive a wedge between us and Israelis. they yanked POTUS’ chain - and he went for it. a little disappointing.

I refuse to believe such reports, PDJT is not that stupid... indeed he is a pretty bright person on most accounts

this sounds like the usual commie/leftist British press trying to stir up more trouble for America and embarrass PDJT

USA is within 2 or 3 days of victory on most of our objectives (as outlined by PDJT himself). The leftwingers are getting desperate trying to undermine America’s victory

RE: How about “None of ISRAEL should be struck in future”?

Good point. As others have said, if the US had a neighbor sending large missiles and shells into densely populated areas and someone told us to be nonviolent and go easy on the attackers and just live in our bomb shelters without shopping or schools or restaurants for days at a time with sirens going off, we might say “no.”

Iran has been using Hezbollah as their Northern Front in the campaign to rid the Universe of Jews.

Long before the Oct 7 massacre, Hezbollah was launching rockets into Northern Israel EVERY DAY. Sometimes a hundred a day.

What has Iran/Hezbollah decided about those daily northern attacks, and why would anyone trust them?

Death to Israel, Death to America, and Death to anyone who gets in our way. Nothing has changed in their genocidal goal.

When you say finish the job, do you mean in Lebanon, Gaza, both or Iran?

Israel does not have the means to “finish the job” regards Iran.

They can conduct limited strikes on Iran and that’s about it.

They definitely have a lot of useful intel, and they can take a lot of the pressure off if we attack, but they do not have the platforms, ordnance, SEAD/ELINT/IMINT, the mass in everything, in the air, on the sea, and to a limited degree on the ground, to do what needs done to “take them out.”

Just one example: Israel has nothing that can reach this far down: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GBU-57A/B_MOP Even if we give them this bomb, they have nothing which can carry it.

IMHO, even we will struggle with that task. Lots of targets, many hardened, some taking actions to make them hard to get (moving around etc)...

I agree with you, I think we’re going to have to destroy Iran in the end. But it will be us, with help from the Israeli’s.

But in the meantime, we can’t have them mucking things up regards trying to settle this through negotiations.

I don’t like the regime in Iran. I was on Rhein Main as a kid when the body parts of Marines were sorted there after the Beirut bombing in 83... I do not need a class on how they have been targeting the US and Westerners for decades, I personally fought against militia groups in Iraq that were being backed by Iran. I know/knew people that lost limbs and probably their life because of them. On a personal level (deep down inside), yes I would like to see that regime pounded into the ground, in the most humiliating and painful way imaginable. But this isn’t about personal feelings.

If we can solve this through peaceful means, we should.

How does that leftist and hippy chant go? “Give peace a chance.” LOL

Lebanon and Gaza. It’s their neighborhood. Yemen-There’s enough infighting. Won’t take as much.

Not Trump’s call. Pretty sure Netanyahu has the right to be “Israel First”.

According to scripture, there can be no peace in that region until an accord is brought in by the Anti-Christ, and that peace will only last for three and one half years before Persia (Iran) attacks Israel to usher in the final conflict. Over the years, (I have been here in a couple of iterations since before Sarah Palin and supported DJT from the moment of the escalator ride), and it seems to me that a large number of FReepers, along with our President, have forgotten that the God that created the heavens and earth made Israel His favorite, as they have been for thousands of years and will be through the end of this age. In light of that biblical truth, we that are grafted into the main branch need to cut those folks some slack. Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem.

It’s IRGC’s game to agree to a cease-fire and then launch an attack using their sock-puppets. Every time they do this retaliation should be directed not just at Beirut but also Tehran.

And maybe since Iran’s third tier keep jerking us around, its time to promote the 4th tier.
