College radio used to have great music, from experimental jazz to progressive rock to fusion country to classical music. But then the Corporation for Public Broadcasting promised to help pay their bills... as long as they passed that money onto NPR. Your local university allowed its radio station to essentially launder money to NPR (and other even further-left organizations like Pacifica Radio). So when NPR claimed it received only 1% of its funding from the federal government, they meant only 1% came DIRECTLY from the federal government, but it nearly all came from the federal government. To the extent they accepted CPB funds, College radio ceased to be a means of educating communications majors, or serving their communities, but at least SOME of the time, they could keep doing so.
Then Congress quit funding CPB, and conservatives presumed that this meant their tax money wouldn't go to fund anti-American, anti-Christian, hate-mongering lies. They were wrong.
See, even once deprived of CPB funds to pay for it, nearly all college radio stations that paid for NPR still do it. That means that your state taxes are now being used to fund NPR, instead of federal taxes. Every state except one continues to use taxpayer funds to fill in the funds cut by the federal government. You want to know how impotent or deceptive your RINO state legislatures are? They are allowing your state universities to pay for NPR instead of educating your children. They should be dragging these university presidents and Boards of Trustees in front of committee hearings to explain themselves. They should be impeaching (or however your state does it) university trustees to wipe the slate clean of Leftists, but they keep handing your money over for people to slander you and express their hatred for you.
There are a few stations which have dropped NPR, like WLRH in Huntsville, Alabama, or WKSO in Warm Spring, Oregon. But only one state, Mississippi, has actually stopped funding NPR.
Pathetic.
Call your state senators and state representatives (or delegates) and demand they stop funding NPR.
[To be clear: NPR provides (mostly) talk programming for college radio stations. Your local college radio station pays NPR for those programs. Not everything on your local college radio station is necessarily NPR, even if it gets pre-empted by NPR telethons. There *are* some NPR music programs, and these can be purchased by your local station independently of NPR propaganda. These include Every Voice and From the Top. Or your local radio station can actually use those funds to teach students how to run a radio station and create their own music programming.]
