The European Commission has drafted plans to give more free emissions permits to industries over the next few years, a move that could save companies 4 billion euros ($4.68 billion) in CO2 costs, an internal EU document seen by Reuters showed on Monday.
The EU's carbon market is the bloc's main tool for addressing CO2 emissions, which it does by forcing industries to buy CO2 emissions permits when they pollute.
The scheme has come under growing political pressure from member states worried about Europe's faltering economic competitiveness, while some heavy industries have urged Brussels to give them more free CO2 permits to ease the cost of complying.
An internal Commission presentation, seen by Reuters, showed that Brussels planned to start including companies' indirect emissions in the calculations it uses to determine how many free CO2 permits industries receive during the period from 2026 to 2030.

No one will ever know if all this “basic stupidity in TRYING to control c02” does in fact do a damn thing. You know in your own mind that man didn’t cause climate warming and that man can’t alter climate warming. We’re talking a universe...not a 10 x 10 room.
Wild corruption.
Permit equals rule equals law, done for only two reasons: control and revenue— not always in that order.
Carbon credits are nothing more than a wealth redistribution scheme.
A legalese way to bring down the USA juggernaut and its freedoms and permit the totalitarians and Communists Marxists to catch up and overcome Western nations.
When that failed to move as quickly as they had liked they resorted to corrupting the nations court systems to accomplish the same thing. Which they have been especially successful doing in the UK.
Wow.

I haven’t exhaled since 1986 waiting for my CO2 permit to arrive.

If they are doing this they recognize 1 thing and hopefully 2 things.
1. Their regulations are crushing economic growth and prosperity.
2. Perhaps they have realized that CO2 is plant food. When CO2 levels were multiple times greater than today great beasts roamed the earth that made elephants look like mouses. It is all about food supply. CO2 increases food supply.
If one looks at Antarctic ice cores one finds that CO2 levels increase after increases increases in global temperature. Thus it is obvious that the global level of CO2 is a function of warming of the earth due to geological and orbital mechanics of earth that has repeated itself many times over.
The greatest store of CO2 is limestone deposited in our oceans via organic processes. The greatest store of active CO2 is the ocean. It ability to store is dependent on global temperature which is a function of orbital mechanics of the earth and oddly on Mars which they ignore. When the earth is hot due to orbital mechanics it is due to the solubility of CO2 in the ocean. When the earth is in Ice Age it is due to the solubility of CO2 in colder water.
It is all due to orbital mechanics as it always has been.
Our planet is so lucky to be blessed with multiple feed back mechanisms of climate that insure our planets stability of climate and thus us.
If global warming was a true mechanism as a function of CO2 levels we on earth would have perished long before humans walked the earth. They lie!
I always find it a lot easier to comply with a zero cost mandate.
Euroweenies realizing their net zero is BS.
But the US is supposed to do their bidding?

This action should shut EU up over any issues relative to global warming nee climate change.
