American advocates for youth gender medicine have insisted for years that overwhelming evidence favors providing gender dysphoric youth with puberty blockers, hormones and, in the case of biological females, surgery to remove their breasts.
It didn’t matter that the number of kids showing up at gender clinics had soared and that they were more likely to have complex mental health conditions than those who had come to clinics in years earlier, complicating diagnosis. ...
The reason these advocates were able to make such strong statements is that for years, the most important professional medical and mental health organizations in the country had been singing a similar tune: “The science” was supposedly codified in documents published by these organizations. As GLAAD puts it on its website, “Every major medical association supports health care for transgender people and youth as safe and lifesaving.”
But something confounding has happened in the last few weeks: Cracks have appeared in the supposed wall of consensus.

If, as I suspect, political forces are the culprit, that would lead to an inescapable conclusion: You cannot automatically trust what these organizations say at a given moment. Not unless they provide a lot more information about their decision-making processes.
Should we trust the science? Sure, in theory — but only when the science in question has earned our trust through transparency and rigor.

This is the lie that will give liberals cover. That the cracks in the consensus just appeared "in the last few weeks." BS. There have been huge cracks in the alleged consensus for years. Only ideologues didn't acknowledge them.
Every doctor that encouraged or performed the monster surgeries should be forced to have their own monster surgery done to them, then be bankrupted, and in prison for life.
I could consider alternatives with more punishment.
Sweet lies to assuage their conscious of the atrocities they permitted in the name of their ideological tyrannies.
Accountability is one of their greatest fears.

Very likely, now the NYT is looking at the court suits coming to many states brought by disfigured "patients" and the likelihood that settlements and fines will tell quite another tale. Precedent in legal terms is quite a powerful storyteller.

yep, NYT is just trying to get ahead of the curve that they know is coming down the pike: they’ll claim that they were alarmed all along about this butchery of a generation ...

Ok its on the Op-Ed page but still, they are almost as crazy as those men doing “mommy dress up”
Young, vulnerable, and highly impressionable kids were having their minds manipulated and corrupted by "responsible" leftist adults of all stripes ranging from politicians, teachers, counselors, health care "professionals", and sadly, even their own parent(s) who told the poor kid that they could fix the temporary discomfort and confusion by taking puberty blockers or even having surgery.
These"responsible" people should have sat down with those troubled kids and compassionately told them that "This is a hard and confusing time for most kids your age, but trust me, you will get through it. This is normal for many kids, and you will grow out of it."
What has happened is criminal. And sections of our society, governments at all levels, schools at all levels, healthcare at all levels, and the very people who should have been the last line of defense for the welfare of those vulnerable kids, put them on the sacrificial stone willingly to Moloch for exactly the wrong and immoral reasons to satisfy that idol...
...in the same way Abraham unwillingly put his son Issac on that stone for the right reasons when God commanded him to do it as a test of faith:
As a test of our society with transgenderism, we failed God and our society in a twisted and immoral way.
I wonder how future generations will look back on this era.
