Kentucky's lone Democratic congressman won't attend Trump's State of the Union

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — President Donald Trump will deliver his State of the Union address on Tuesday.

He is expected to highlight domestic and foreign policy issues, like immigration crackdowns, widespread tariffs, military actions and more.

Usually in attendance are members of Congress, Supreme Court justices, the President’s Cabinet and other top executives officials.

But this time, several Democrats won't be going, including Kentucky's lone Democrat.

Rep. Morgan McGarvey provided this statement Tuesday:

"The State of the Union is a time to reflect on the state of our country, and when I do, I see our government unleashing unimaginable violence against our neighbors and our nation slipping into authoritarianism: these are not mere policy disagreements. We cannot pretend these are normal times, and tonight the President will attempt to normalize that violence and gaslight Americans into believing our rights are disposable or that we’re powerless to stop it.

"I won’t be attending tonight’s State of the Union, and I urge Americans watching to remember that our rights are not disposable, our power is not gone, and this is not normal."

CBS reports some Democrats will boycott the speech with counterprogramming at the National Press Club called "State of the Swamp."

What is "normal" to this Democrat Congressman? Child mutilation and child chemical castration, uncontrolled borders, high crime and murder rates, runaway inflation, higher fentanyl deaths, etc.?

His constituents will be having the tax breaks on tips, overtime, SS benefits, etc. despite him, not because of him.

Here’s hoping that Morgan brings a Sig-Sauer to protest ICE.

But on the other hand... The “Republican” Kentuckian Representatives and Senators might as well be Democrats too.
