US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Saturday questioned Russia's seriousness about ending the Ukraine war, as Washington pushes for a swift peace deal.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Rubio said the conflict was approaching its fifth year and that there was still no clarity over Moscow's willingness to negotiate.

“Even as Rubio at times needled European policymakers, his address contrasted sharply with Vice President JD Vance’s address here a year ago, in which he argued that the greatest danger to the continent came from censorship and democratic backsliding - rather than external ‌threats like Russia.”

This is why Vance will be the 2028 nominee, not Rubio.

The only intention that Putin has of ending the war is through Ukrainian capitulation. Unfortunately, after four years it should be clear, even to him, that he does not have the resources to do so.

bance is right both on policy and politics.

Nixon put it this way. A repubican needs to run right before the primary and move to the center going into the general.

Thats in normal times. But the democrats keep going left so there’s not much reason for repulicans to tack back to the center—where ever that is.

His stated position was that he could accept a ceasefire along the present lines but that he could not agree to a de jure recognition of the Russian annexations.

Russia loses the war if Iran loses the Mullahs. No more drones, supplies and help.

Well a ceasefire is a non starter and he knows it. So is non recognition of russias new territories so the war goes on. Of course it could end this week if the US cut off starlink

So you want to push the Ukrainian under the bus and allow Russian aggression to win. But I think that you underestimate the Ukrainians. They are fighting for their survival. They would not give up so easily. The quickest way to end this war is to give Ukraine what it needs for victory. This war could have ended three years ago if we had not been so pusilianimous with our aid. Trump originally said that he would arm Ukraine to the teeth put additional sanctions on Russia if the they did not agree to a ceasefire. He should follow up on his words.

The Ukrainians are fighting for their survival and overwhelmingly support the war. You are deluding yourself if you think this is only being driven by Zelensky’s intransigence. Replace him with any other politician and nothing would change. Would you not fight for your freedom or would you fold? Why do you think that the Ukrainians would do otherwise?

As for casualties, as the ones who are sending troops across open fields against entrenched defenders, it is the Russians who are suffering the greater casualties. Do not delude yourself thinking otherwise. A clear sign that that the Ukrainians are not running out of men is their refusal to lower the draft age to 18, which is near universal in other countries.

Nothing is holding Zelensky from going on another Offensive
and taking back his land back from Ruzzia.

Nothing but intelligence. Ukraine does not need to go on a land offensive to win. All he has to do is make the war too damaging for Russia to continue. Ukraine has already made it too expensive for Russian to launch any major land offensives. Ukraine’s attacks on Russia’s energy sectors is severely damaging Russia’s economy. Only time will tell if Russia can maintain the effort. At present it does not look good for them.

The Ukrainians fear that if Putin gets his pound of flesh now, it will be like after 2014 when he got a pound of flesh (Crimea and the Donbas), and they thought he would be satisfied, but 8 years later he came back for more.

Putin is using salami tactics to cut up Ukraine. If, in 2022 he just stuck to kharkiv and kherson, the world would have done nothing, but he went fir the jugular, trying to swallow all of Ukraine at once.

That failed at Hostomel.

The Ukrainians are tired but they see no point in an armistice that would allow the bandit to come back in a few years and unleash hell again - only the next time the world wouldn’t help

Russia has already negotiated and signed agreements
Minsk l, then Minsk ll.
The EU and NATO welched on both agreements.

Takes two to tango.
Russia needs a serious negotiating partner.

Mebe everyone wants The Ukraine to return to it’s non state reality

The Europeans know damn well that Ukraine is too hopelessly corrupt to be allowed into NATO and the EU and yet they’re will to degrade and destroy both institutions to make it happen. Why? Because it’s money laundering to the elites
