Former MAGA loyalist Marjorie Taylor Greene says Trump policies are not America First
CBS News ^ | December 7, 2025 | Lesley Stahl, Aliza Chasan, Denise Schrier Cetta

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who voted with President Trump 98% of the time before her relationship with him fractured, accused the president in a recent interview with 60 Minutes of forsaking his base.

The Georgia representative has recently split with the president on a number of issues, including affordability and foreign affairs. She said she believes he's failed to keep domestic policy as his top priority. In her resignation video, Greene said the president has forsaken the MAGA base, specifically pointing to his support of the crypto and pharmaceutical industries.

"Those are the areas that are still getting everything they want, while the people, we're still out here saying, 'We want to see action on areas for the American people, not for the major industries and the big donors,'" Greene said.

Greene accuses Trump of betraying MAGA, America First promises Mr. Trump has called affordability a "hoax" created by Democrats, but Greene said it's a real issue in her district and across the country. The affordability of health insurance caused Greene to side with the Democrats during the government shutdown in support of extending health care subsidies.

The Georgia representative said she never imagined she would be standing with Democrats on the Affordable Care Act subsidies.

Greene is also the only Republican member of Congress to publicly characterize the war in Gaza as a "genocide" and she has also voted against the Antisemitism Awareness Act. She said she's voted to denounce antisemitism before.

"It becomes an exercise that they force on Congress, and I simply got tired of it," she said, later adding, "We don't have to get on our knees and say it over and over again."

Greene is one of the few Republicans willing to take on Mr. Trump.

So she’s out the door as soon as she qualifies for her retirement package.

***********

Trump gets an A+ on the immigration issue but in many respects he seems to have not been very aggressive on pushing the America First agenda that was in large part what he was elected to focus on. Operation Affordability was a very late and reactive shift to try to restore some appearance of focusing on the economy -- and on the Forgotten Man. MTG is a self-absorbed egomaniac but her criticism of Trump in this case has some validity.

It has to be her way — all at once — or the highway.

Dunno if it's true but there's a rumor that MTG wanted to run for the Senate but Trump refused to endorse her.

Trump was able to secure our borders on Day One. That was the most important thing that he did.

Regarding foreign policy, he should delegate all of that to Rubio who's doing a fantastic job.

Trump should be visiting factories more often in USA. Things like that.

“Former MAGA loyalist Marjorie Taylor Greene says Trump policies are not America First”

Saying “Former” equates the MAGA movement with Trump loyalists. I disagree.

The worst of it is her pushing the “affordability” rat talking point. That BS is likely to cost us the House.

At the lower PPACA income levels, Pelosi & Schumer were more than generous enough.

At the higher income levels, PPACA policy buyers are either self-employed or have jobs that pay reasonably well.

Nothing the MSM loves better than a turncoat. See Nicole Wallace. MTG will be on the In Crowd list now.
If she doesn’t see the big picture of the MAGA agenda, she is the loser.

I agree but would add that our infrastructure in this country is a disgrace. Its inadequate, outdated and in dire need of modernization. It could be the centerpiece of making the country great again if only he would focus on it. There’s an immense amount of work to do right here at home.

Unfortunately Trump seems to be attracted to distractions.
