A woman in medical scrubs who was driving on U.S. 1 in the Florida Keys Wednesday morning was stopped by federal immigration agents and forcibly removed from her car, despite screaming she was an American citizen.

Amazingly, a Miami Herald reporter just HAPPENED to be there. And she just happened to apparently KNOW the reporter was there filming and screaming at his video camera.
Not a setup at all.
It sounds like she was resisting for the sake of resisting. After a few minutes cuffed in the back of a patrol car she was released. It was probably as simple as showing her license.

Failure to ID is not a crime in Florida, but it can be construed as obstruction. Thus, after she provided ID she was released. That wasn’t an arrest. It was a temporary detention for her to consider her life choices. If she had continued to obstruct or even resist she would’ve gone to the lockup.

Looks like she was putting on a show for the “journalist”. She was looking DIRECTLY at him, and he was some distance away.
She was DETAINED, not arrested... Something that happens ALL THE TIME. But because it was ICE, local Miami media is trying to make it a big story.

The only legal checkpoints allowed in Florida are DUI checkpoints, and you must comply with the questioning LEO.
This was obviously not a DUI checkpoint stop and the lady was within her rights not to comply.
Here in Michigan, motorists are not legally obligated to answer any questions if stopped at a DUI checkpoint.
Has it gotten so bad in this country that we are willing to give up our Fourth and Fifth Amendment rights every time a LEO stops our vehicles?
