Can anyone explain to this dummy how LibDems can still win 73 seats and be named the official opposition coming in at 6th place with a platry 11% of the vote?

It think it’s the nature of British parliamentary elections. Each British constituency is won by a plurality. And with many parties dividing the vote, a party can win a seat with a relatively small percentage.

Now here’s the kicker. Labour presently has a huge majority in Parliament. So Labour can do whatever it wants. By they only won 34% of the popular vote!

Because the MPs are elected in districts (or whatever the equivalent term is for the UK), same way our House members are elected.
