The University of Notre Dame has ixnayed and expunged the school’s historic Catholic mission from its staff values and instead chosen to adopt a “refreshed” set of generic concepts like “community.”
According to the Daily Caller:
The University of Notre Dame has dropped the school’s historic Catholic mission from its staff values and adopted a “refreshed” set of generic concepts like “community” instead, though it will still identify as a “Catholic research university.”
The Catholic school’s list of staff values previously included requiring that one “Understands, accepts, and supports the Catholic mission of the university and fosters values consistent with that mission.” Now, the list has been watered down into generic requirements that staff “treat every person with dignity and respect” and “work together.”
Instead of staff being required to “understand, accept, and support the Catholic mission” of the university and “foster values consistent with that mission,” the staff is now encouraged to simply “treat every person with dignity and respect” and “work together.”
Gotta treat those pedophiles, murderers, and radical Islamic types with dignity and respect! Maybe we can work together to create a college — and a nation — where there are absolutely no restraints on personal behavior and no consequences for anyone’s actions!
This nicely dovetails with the views of those currently heading up the Vatican, most of whom are profoundly progressive, explicitly ideological, and marginally Catholic at best.
Simply put, they are there to “fundamentally transform Catholicism.”
And Christianity. They are virtue-signaling apostates who would destroy a great religion to appear tragically hip.
Wittingly or unwittingly, they are doing the Devil’s bidding … and sowing the seeds of destruction rather than redemption.

Figures, since the Pope and a good many of his bishops do not appear to be Catholic. Oh well, I was fortunate enough to be Catholic back when the church was also.
At last Notre Dame is being honest. It stopped being Catholic some ages ago.

Me too...so glad I got to go to Catholic school from kindergarten up thru high school then nursing school...the old days...which we will never see again.
Who is paying for the school today? If the church is writing the checks, it should stand up and say no. Many Christian religious denominations that founded colleges, ran orphanages, and built hospitals no longer fund those institutions they founded. Secular money now provide the financial support that keeps these institutions alive.

the Communist party cell in Chicago (a longstanding problem that is helping destroy the city AND Illinois by all kinds of evil propaganda and incitements)...took over the governing board of Notre Dame years ago (ND is in South Bend just down the road a piece from Chicago with freeway, busline, and train connections — whiel it is bit too far to commute on a daily basis, South Bend is pretty much an exurb of Chicago).
Same bunch of people who got Obama elected there.
AND, ND bestowed University Honors on Obama .. for doing what? Absolutely NOTHING. Except that Obama did sponsor one bill in the Illinois legislature. It would have legalized murdering a born baby (after birth) if the parents wanted to abort the child....)
So.. ND abandoned all Catholic, Christian, Biblical moral values way back years ago.
Coming forward and acknowedging it will make zero practical difference. ND was already a immoral cesspool at least 20 years ago
Chicago parents who want to give their kids a more Catholic moral education may wish to look elsewhere. Perhaps beginning with the Franciscan University of Steubenville (Ohio) which is not TOO far away.
Me, too. I really enjoyed it long ago. The last great pope was Pius XII. Everything after that was modernization. Still have great fondness for the nuns that taught us. Sent money for their retirement until the last one died.
It all started with VatII, now The Church is finished. Next will be the muslims turning Churches into mosques and finally the islamic flag will fly over the Vatican.
I miss Bishop Sheen.
Notre Dame hasn’t been Catholic in more than 50 years. I don’t know why all this media attention is on the school just now.
End student visas for the Chinese would be a great start to reining in these academic nihilists.

That used to be called being a ‘Cafeteria Catholic’, where one picks and chooses which tenets of the Bible to adhere to ‘As Is’, and which ones to bypass or modify.
Dame is ‘Lady’ in French, they need a more gender-neutral word.
