One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting at St. Louis Lambert International Airport in Missouri early Friday morning, according to local police.

At approximately 1:05 a.m. on Friday, police officers at the airport were conducting "routine security checks" in Terminal 1 when they "encountered an adult male with a knife," officials said.

The suspect "refused to drop the weapon" and was then tased by one police officer, officials said.

When the suspect continued to advance toward officers, a second police officer "fired his service weapon, striking the male subject," officials said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

So he was able to get through security with a knife. TSA is doing a great job.

No wonder they quit making shows like “Gunsmoke”. I had a friend, he had his mental issues but had not EVER hurt a soul, shot and killed by police at a distance of 54’ and all he had was a butter knife. They shot him 11 times.

How do they live with themselves while media says nothing.

It’s good TSA spotted his nail clippers. He could have clipped the cop’s nails down to the quick.

You can get into the airport with anything, although I believe you can be subject to a search if you look suspicious. Didn’t see in the story that he was in a TSA secured area. Lambert is pretty much shut down at 1 am so anyone looking scruffy at that time is likely to draw attention.

You are assuming they passed their pre-employment psych evaluation and are not sociopaths.

According to Dr. Calarisa Cole, fully half the people she flat-out failed were hired anyway.

How do you know he got through security? The article does not say we’re in the airport this happened.

TSA is NOT responsible for areas outside the screening checkpoints. TSA’s jurisdiction begins at the security checkpoints inside the terminal and covers sterile areas (post-screening concourses, gates, etc.). Outside the terminal area, the primary responsibility is with local airport police or the airport authority’s own law enforcement/public safety department.

Again the ol’ knife to a gunfight. One of these days it might work but not today.

Sometimes I feel most are the ones that were bullied in elementary and high school. Now they have a gun.

When I say most, I am only talking about the trigger happy!!
