War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced on Tuesday another lethal strike against a drug trafficking vessel in the Eastern Pacific.
Two were killed in the attack. According to NewsNation, at least 66 people have been killed in at least 16 strikes since the United States campaign in South America started in September.
This strike came “the same day an aircraft carrier began heading to the region in a new expansion of military firepower,” per NewsNation.
Hegseth wrote in a statement on Tuesday,
Today, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO).
Intelligence confirmed that the vessel was involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, transiting along a known narco-trafficking route, and carrying narcotics. The strike was conducted in international waters in the Eastern Pacific.
No U.S. forces were harmed in the strike, and two male narco-terrorists — who were aboard the vessel — were killed.
We will find and terminate EVERY vessel with the intention of trafficking drugs to America to poison our citizens. Protecting the homeland is our TOP priority. NO cartel terrorist stands a chance against the American military.

This follows another deadly strike, killing three designated foreign terrorists, which Hegseth announced in a statement on Saturday:
“Today, at the direction of President Trump, the Department of War carried out a lethal kinetic strike on another narco-trafficking vessel operated by a Designated Terrorist Organization (DTO) in the Caribbean.
This vessel—like EVERY OTHER—was known by our intelligence to be involved in illicit narcotics smuggling, was transiting along a known narco-trafficking route, and carrying narcotics. Three male narco-terrorists were aboard the vessel during the strike, which was conducted in international waters. All three terrorists were killed, and no U.S. forces were harmed in this strike.
These narco-terrorists are bringing drugs to our shores to poison Americans at home—and they will not succeed. The Department will treat them EXACTLY how we treated Al-Qaeda. We will continue to track them, map them, hunt them, and kill them.”

I’m really surprised that the drug cartels haven’t forced innocent fishermen and other boat owners to run as decoys for them in hopes that an innocent boat crew gets killed.

I completely back this strategy, and would like to see even more aggressive steps taken.
It would be helpful if there was an objective measure of the success of this program, for example, number of confirmed overdoses per month in the US.
I think that would help win hearts and minds (and votes in 2026-2028).

These Narco Terrorists can't.
They can move it through land routes but that’s much more difficult.
Maybe they hide it inside container shipments from other less controversial countries into the U.S? Dunno but you can bet the wheels are turning.
