Dozens of people disrupted Washington D.C.’s Navy Yard neighborhood on Halloween night, prompting police to make multiple arrests and shut down several streets.
The Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of disorderly conduct at First Street and M Street SE on Friday evening. Officers arrested multiple individuals as they worked to disperse the crowd, according to DC Police Department social media posts.
Authorities closed M Street between 1st and 3rd Streets SE. New Jersey Avenue south of L Street SE was also shut down during the incident. Police provided an 11 p.m. update confirming the disorderly groups had dispersed. Officers maintained a large presence throughout Navy Yard as road closures remained in effect. The Metropolitan Police Department has not released information about how many people were arrested or what charges the individuals face. Police said they would provide updates as the investigation continues, according to Fox 5 News .
The Navy Yard area, located in Southeast Washington along the Anacostia River, is home to several restaurants and entertainment venues that typically draw crowds on weekend evenings.
When I first saw “Navy Yard”, I thought it was on a military base belonging to the navy. Apparently, it’s a neighborhood. And probably not a very good one.
Wake me up to witness major a$$ beatings of those who would disturb the peace.
